It’s just not a very happy birthday.

I feel scared and angry when I think about it for too long,
like a child throwing a tantrum I just want to scream. It’s just not fair. I’m the oldest I’m supposed to go first.
It’s not fair I’m supposed to go first.
I know I should feel grateful to be here. I know I shouldn’t feel guilty. I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t Want anyone to feel this way

It’s hard to articulate how surreal and wrong it feels. I can’t remember life before him. He was always just there. we weren't perfect siblings but I tried to be there too.
I’m used to being the eldest sibling. But I hate seeing time widen the gap between us. It doesn’t seem right. Growing up together used to be more like a game. You were always catching up to me. Just a few steps behind.
But I don’t want to play this game anymore. I want to to run back and push you ahead I want you to keep pace with me. I want you to catch back up. It isn’t fun without you.

This isn’t a wholly unique experience. There’s lots of reasons people feel complicated around this birthday. Our society has complexes about youth, achievement, expected roles and expected benchmarks. This is especially true of women. But I would be a liar if I told you that’s why today is hard.
My little brother and I were born 20 months apart. Not quite full two years between us. Today Today I am turning thirty. And he never will.
He was killed in an accident when he was twenty years old. Today I am turning thirty. And he never will.
He isn't the first or only dead person I know. And I'm aware he won't be the last We've lost a lot of family. I've lost friends. But his absence stings the most. It's unnatural.

Today I’m turning 30 And I don’t know how I’m supposed to feel about that.
This is about grief.

Thousands of people filled the streets of downtown Minneapolis in protest of federal immigration enforcement for the second consecutive Friday.

The arrests of Don Lemon, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lundy are unacceptable and a clear violation of the Constitution.
This is a dangerous abuse of power that threatens the rights of every single American.
They must be released immediately.

As Greg has said here, the store's site has crashed from the traffic/flood of orders. But a GofundMe is still live to help with the store's renovation.

Quietly building a little discord for me to post my resources and hoping to connect with other MCAD alumni/students/dropouts. If you are a Comic bfa person, feel free to DM me if you want to just dump resources or look at what I post.
The Phillips neighborhoods are being targeted because it has the highest percent of residents who are not US Citizens. This fund will help feed, provide basic necessities and allow our immigrant neighbors to stay housed for 65+ families (and counting).

Pencil Drawings of Ice victims Renee Good and Alex Pretti who were both killed for no reason but cowardice. The text reads "INNOCENTS MURDERED BY COWARDS"
Renee Good and Alex Pretti were executed by the state. #AbolishIce #MeltIce
People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.
A moment of silence that ends with someone shouting "fuck ICE!" and the crowd roaring in response
Comics retailing legend Greg Ketter standing up to ICE in Minneapolis. Yes, that's tear gas. He's 70 years old.
Nation's largest nurses union repeats calls for ICE abolition, pledges to do "everything in our power to vote out any elected official who supports funding for this all-out assault on the health, safety, and civil rights of our people."
One last boost for the evening crowd. This has raised a truly staggering amount of money, thank you all!! Also a couple people have said this is one of their favorite videos of mine, which is very nice to hear.
Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti “We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed. Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.
"Please get the truth out about our son."
I have the right to free speech and protest.
I have the right to bear arms.
I have the right to a warrant.
I have the right to a trial.
ICE ignores all of this. They are unconstitutional and need to be abolished. They are out of control. Absolute maniacs facing little to no consequence.
One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!
Protester in Minneapolis just before disappearing in gas: "Fuck you! Stop. Damn! I'm 70 years old and I'm fuckin' angry!"
This is being posted by someone on the MN city council and he said he's verified it in the thread, if you have any question about it.
