Isn't this, just an everyday occurrence?

On this occasion, the person may have been wearing ear buds, but they could so easily have been lost in their thoughts.

As with drivers, cyclists need to be alert to such dangers...

And I tell you what beats a bell, it's the human voice. Just shout...

The sad thing is, it's not unheard of though.

I'm of the persuasion, for long-term sustainability, people need to coaxed out the of their cars.

With some, I get the impression, they think that car drivers can quit their cars tomorrow... Reminiscent of an ex-smoker. It's all so easy now I've quit.

I can't recall ever having that problem myself... It was always getting them back on that hindered me.

Here's another tool I bought that was supposed to help with tyres. I've still got it, but I can't tell you how useful it was, as I've not used it for years.

What tyres are you using? I know that some makes are a lot easier to fit than others. I use to ride tubeless, but gave up on them a few years ago, after getting too many punctures that wouldn't seal.

For tough tyres now, I use a seating tool.

If I'm cycling along a shared path, and there's walkers in front of me, I'll ease up until they notice me (and voluntarily make way).

I'm sure, those cyclists that repeatedly sound their bell, at walkers, would go crazy if a driver did the same to them.

Bike bells... Do cyclists really need them?

Even though, every new bike comes with one, I've never ridden with one as I think they're antisocial.

What are they for? To get those travelling slower to move out the way?

When drivers do this, it's wrong and so it is when cyclists do too. Imo.

What a difference a 100 yards along a river back can make...

I'm so use to seeing the River Rea, looking like it does in the second picture, I was really surprised to see it so clear, a 100 yards further on (where I don't usually walk) as pictured in the first.

Initial thoughts on a 13 year being out, either riding a bike or a scooter, at 23:50...

That's 10 to midnight...

Last week, people were asking questions about the parents of the teens that gathered in Clapham... I know it sounds heartless, but the authorities don't ignore such things.

If I'm honest, I'd be happy with any form of action being taken this driver. I just don't want it to get dismissed for some spurious reason.

The police have taken action against drivers that passed me this close before, so, hopefully, they will do again here.

Whilst out cycling, the other day, I had a marked police van try to pass me, extremely close.

After submitting a report, I'm now wondering, how will WMP handle this? Will it be dismissed, or treated the same as any other report?

Due to lack of feedback, I've only be 6 mths to wait to find out.

It's like those sale signs on shop fronts that say "up to 70% off"... When you step inside all you see are tiny reduction.

Too many people are taken in by these things, which is why they're so prevalent... It worked for The Right, with "Stop the boats" etc, and now the Left are trying it.

Who's on the right track, @zackpolanski.bsky.social for thinking this will pan out as he suggests, or @frankleyman.bsky.social who thinks it won't?

"Tax billionaires."

How much would that raise, really, or doesn't that matter?

Is this the age of the slogan, rather than credible policies now...

Thanks.

Approaching it from the Cardiff side, it didn't seem that bad... And then I hit the island.

That was dodgy!

I'll never attempt to cycle round that thing again, that's for sure.

Would I have been allowed to cycle along this road, at the time this picture was taken (10:29am)?

Can you help @showmeasign.online?

I'm not in the mood to get into a protracted to and fro, over a matter of opinion, so I'll just say, your reply has been noted.

Does that rule really apply in situations like this? That bus drivers isn't pulling away from a stop, they're giving way, in line with the road signs, aren't they?

It's the false claims I have a problem with.... If it cost more for people to fill up, telling them it could be a lot worse, helps nobody... Rachel Reeves needs to be honest and tell people "Fuel prices are going to go up and there's not much I can do to about it".

Hyperbole... An exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally.

I'm sorry, but Rachel Reeves is talking rubbish...

Prices lower than they would otherwise be, is no help, when prices have risen as much as they have over the past week.

Are people supposed to grateful that it only cost £10 more to fill up, rather than £15?

Another enclave on the way I see...

I just hope that tree, which I asked for a TPO to be attached to it, survives... It's served by kids and grandkids well over the years and I'd hate to see it go.

I'd tweak it by making those proposed changes, to the A38 through the tunnels, asap.

I'd say, most of the congestion in the city centre stems from vehicles entering and exiting these tunnels. Cut this down and, I'm sure, we'd see the levels of pollution fall.

Boy, 13, arrested over e-bike hit-and-run on pregnant woman in Poole The woman later gave birth to a baby who remains in a serious condition in hospital.

This is terrible... I hope the child pulls through.

In time, I'm sure, we'll find out more about this "e-bike", but something tells me it may not be totally legit.

8mths on...

How many Turkish barbers, nail bars, tanning shops, takeaways, and vape shops does a 500 meter long High St need?

Whatever the number, I'm sure Rubery, B45, exceeds this.

How do these shops make a profit in such a small village?

And when you do need to cycle on the road, the drivers give you an incredible amount of space as well...

Stirling. Another place that puts Birmingham to shame with its cycling infrastructure.

I occasionally wonder, how could things get so bad for the Holocaust to occur?

I generally conclude, that was a different time, things could never get that bad today.

Seeing what's going on in the USA, I'm questioning this now... Those ICE agents are just like the Gestapo.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social

Absolutely. I live in Birmingham, the pace of change here is glacial. Even after the council declared a road safety emergency, in June 2024, next to nothing has changed.

I just wonder how much the "all or nothing" approach, which I see so much of, helps or hinders.

2 months ago 0 0 0 0

And I'm not against these schemes either... It's the immediacy that some think they can be introduced that's riles me... If advocates (of all different types of schemes) were a bit more flexible they may recieve more support.

I want it all and I want it now, may not be the best approach.

2 months ago 0 0 1 0

Even this scheme allows exemptions. And compliance only stops a PCN being issued.

It's like stopping on a red route, it shouldn't be done, but it is.

Paying the charge and passing the costs on to the customer is something that businesses do, at times.
