To be fair, the Fari App VTT had around 5k monthly active users at its peak. The main issue with the app was sustainability. Open source work is so demanding with most users who don’t want to contribute code, time, or money DEMAND stuff out of you.
It’s thankless and drains the soul over time.

I recommend the Boundless SRD by @farirpgs.com. it's rules light and makes hacking a system really easy. I have used it to have a "game"in like 2 days. If the kiddo finishes and realizes the system doesn't quite fit, that's still experience.
