Things suck right now. Fears make perfect sense. Information overload is intentionally burning everyone out.
Pay attention to your local news and where detention facilities are being created. Most signs of escalation will start with a specific targeted celebrity, academic, or lawyers.

8. Be able to identify when you are worrying about things that could happen in the future but are out of your control. Practice grounding techniques and make a list of games, shows, and company to escape into and find community with. We have to sustain ourselves in these emotions for a while.

6. Create a plan for a to-go bag or make one. Some things can't be put in place now but you should know what you would bring (medication, laptops or other devices you're actively using). This includes making a list of comfort objects like family heirlooms, plushies, gifts from friends, and fidgets.

5. A plan for people who could temporarily take care of children, people you are caretaking for, or pets. I know it sucks but if the anxiety of this is stressing you out, plan. People who are at the lowest risk for citizenship challenges can potentially fly or drive to you.

4. Create a space where all your documentation is that can be transported. Something as simple as a sealable plastic bag can work. I highly recommend digitizing tax documents from the last few years and putting them on an external drive if possible.

a print out of a 'know your rights' document can be helpful because in times of stress, we might forget things.
Write out your contact list for friends and (found) family. Phone numbers and email addresses.

3. Get documentation in order. Passport, ID, etc. certified copies of applicable documents (like name changes)And other information like a list of your medications, allergies, and doctor(s), vet info and rabies shot info for pets, and information related to bills and loans you have to pay

2. Connect your contacts to these and set up emergency contact plans for people in proximity to you (same state or under 8 hours away driving). This just means knowing what people could help you and or pets just in case.

-ensure that photos and videos from your smart phone will sync to a cloud that other people can access in case you get detained. Set your devices to use a passcode and not face-id.

1. Understand the difference between encrypted vs cloud storage and plan on using both
-Set up encrypted and anonymized communication options.
Free: signal for texting, protonmail for email
Cheap: non-smartphone without a contract - don't use services like Google voice

if you're worried about your citizenship and documentation / detainment risk: this is a thread of things you can do and some of the things to watch for in the news to know if things are escalating. These are things to do instead of anxiety spiraling.

After that, next stream will be able identifying and coping with AI generated "content"

I personally don't care much about winning (you should vote for Cheymodee, Crispyspidey, ChiChi, or LeeshCapeesh). The fact that I got informed consent from the awards to exist as the nuanced person that I am AND the fact that people see me as embodying the values I aspire to - is an award to me. Ty

I'm still learning how to exist with positive attention, but I wanted to say thank you to the folks that nominated & congratulated me for my nomination in the BIPoC streamer awards under "Not all Heroes Wear Capes" category. It means the world to me to be listed alongside many wonderful people.

I'm choosing to pay attention to things because I have a higher threshold to avoid information overload.

It is okay to focus your energy on the things that directly impact you right now. Just be kind and understand that immigrants (and non-white passing folks) are needing support.
