Hi!
I'm not here very often, but I just launched my brand new lab website! I'm also hiring a !!! three-year !!! Postdoc. Interest form link can be found under "The Team" section.
(Current domain name is temporary haha. FormorphologyLab dot com coming soon!)

Phenomenal.
Poposaurus running simulations starting to get better than utterly ridiculous. Now just ridiculous.
New #DAWNDINOS paper!
We do predictive simulations of vertical height jumping in the Triassic theropod Coelophysis & extant (tinamou) bird Eudromia. Mainly as sensitivity analysis of what parameters are most important. We show how crucial tail mobility is.

For those who haven’t seen it yet, the award-winning documentary @whydinosaurs.bsky.social is now available free on YouTube! You should definitely watch it if you have the time. I’ve embedded the video in my review here.

Interesting preprint suggesting that recently described fossils from Brazil described as a new ctenochasmatine pterosaur, Bakiribu, preserved within a regurgitalite, instead represent the gill arch apparatus of an actinopterygian fish:

A man in a Batman costume and a pregnant woman in a crowded subway car, their faces obscured by pixelation. Text on top of the image reads: "Fig. 1: An example of the experimental setting, with Batman and a woman simulating pregnancy stand in a crowded metro"
Science will often take you to unexpected and delightful places. In this study, researchers hypothesized that riders in a crowded subway car would be more likely to offer their seat to a pregnant person if there were someone in the subway car dressed as Batman 🧪🦇

A paper published in Nature reports the discovery of an early sauropodomorph in the Andes of La Rioja, northwestern Argentina. The finding expands the known diversity and geographic range of early dinosaurs and offers new insights into sauropodomorph evolution. go.nature.com/4984sqA #Paleosky 🧪
Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖
