My experience as an intern was certainly a whirlwind but in my opinion so worth it. I was able to develop my written voice tenfold of what I've been able to in college and my confidence in cold-emailing and communicating with capital-P Professionals in the music industry has grown exponentially. I was also able to take on additional self-coordinated photography and review opportunities during my time as an intern, which has led to the concrete realization of a far-off childhood dream of shooting my favorite artists.
I've been coordinating with the literal CEO to write video scripts and store signage and I'm still baffled that, because of my experience with nys music, she has said that I have "more experience than her" in writing for the company... as if she isn't literally running the place.

Every so often I ask former interns how they viewed their internship with @nystatemusic.bsky.social and this might be my favorite response yet.
