So uh to be fair… get unsurprised people. Literally the folks who have been emboldened across the country (aka the actual antisemites). Also, who do folks think will be absorbed into the new ranks of ICE? The knitting club? Thank you for covering this!!!

Three Priorities for a New Age of Electricity Load Growth - RMI Electricity demand growth is being caused by more than data centers, and rising electricity costs call for system solutions

"Wholesale electricity prices in the United States and Europe have risen by 30–40 percent in the past year alone, largely due to higher gas prices." Increased demand is also an issue, with data centers one major cause of increase.

Gas prices (nat gas/methane) are making electricity more expensive in the U.S. There is broad agreement among analysts that as US LNG export capacity doubles in the next 4 years that US gas prices will go much higher. And thus so will domestic electricity prices.

So what happened in my view was that the entire GND momentum was fractured by BBAA and then completely co-opted to land at the IRA… which was not EJ or CJ and btw we were telling folks the entire time…

I'm behind on my reading, but this is a big deal, a crucial reframing, and very disturbing.

Also want to highlight the great set of secondary conclusions, incl. that other countries should take an extra conservative approach to evaluating the climate impact of US LNG

7 reasons why conventional nuclear energy is not the answer to solve climate change | One Earth Conventional nuclear doesn’t just have one problem. It has seven. Here are the seven major problems with conventional nuclear energy and why it is not a solution to the climate crisis.

Anyone who blames the failure and success of nuclear power in the U.S. to just one issue (cost, build time, NRC,...) ignores the fact that nuclear power faces many other issues worldwide (mining, enrichment, refueling, waste storage, meltdowns, proliferation,...).

Gov. Hochul suggests 'slow down' on NYS climate law given concerns on utility rates for consumers 💸 Will your utility bills go up because of New York’s climate law? We asked the governor directly — here’s what she said, and why her response is making waves:

While Gov Hochul says NY needs to go slow on climate goals & should use an "all of the above" energy approach with a lot of new nuclear, I counter that nuclear is too expensive & too slow, and renewables can do the job, with no slow down on climate.

Illustration of the leak prone pipe replacement vs. targeted electrification

Illustration of the leak prone pipe replacement vs. targeted electrification

Our latest report asks a simple question: What if, instead of spending billions replacing aging gas pipes, utilities helped nearby homes switch to electric heating? The data shows this would often cost less, lower utility bills, AND cut pollution.Full report: switch.box/lpp Let's break it down: 1/6
