Thanks for sharing your book-sounds interesting.
Any plans for an audiobook? Or is this more textbook-y format and not really compatible with audio?
(I like to move and read!)

Newly introduced legislation in Ontario will abolish the Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario, and absorbing into the ministry. This is another in a long line of decisions to destroy the autonomy of university in Ontario and place them under greater and more direct government control.
I have a lot of frustrations with the tech industry but perhaps the biggest one is that they're constantly pushing every new fad as "the inevitable future".
It's always, "adopt this, buy that, or you'll be left behind."
This worked in the smart phone launch era but it hasn't worked for awhile now.

Still worth efforts to avoid and prevent COVID-19. Improvements in air quality/ventilation, masking, testing/staying home when sick, mouthwash are all effective strategies, if you haven’t read our guideline our addressing these interventions and more:

🙈 Ontario's Bill 97 is an attempt to FULLY EXEMPT @FordNation & all of his underlings from Freedom of Information.
It asks Ontarians to trust a system they can't verify.
Harsh truths galvanize better laws.
They prevent misery & save lives.

we don’t want this AI.
Listen to the experts (yes including those of us who are scientists & in higher ed) & your constituents.
This all-in-for-AI serves no one but private corporations. Certainly not Canadians & their values.
Embryo fossil…oldest proof that mammal ancestors laid eggs

Resume Botox: Omitting age and years of experience to increase chances of getting hired. AI in hiring makes it worse. Studies have found AI resumes portray women as less experienced and younger. When ranking equivalent resumes, AI gives men higher ratings.

This is so, so well-articulated.
A 2x2 collage of four colorful children's nonfiction picture book covers celebrating trailblazing women. Top left: Queen of Physics — an illustration of Chien-Shiung Wu in a white lab coat smiles at a desk covered in papers and scientific diagrams, with atoms and stars floating around her. Top right: Wangari’s Trees of Peace — Wangari Maathai, wearing a bright yellow patterned dress and headwrap, kneels to plant a tree against a backdrop of African mountains and sky. Bottom left: The Amazing Story of Jane Goodall — Jane Goodall in a green shirt kneels in a lush jungle, gently interacting with a chimpanzee. Bottom right: The Doctor with an Eye for Eyes — close-up of Dr. Patricia Bath, a Black woman with dark hair, holding an eye-examination device against a purple background decorated with cartoon eyes.
📚 Happy International #ChildrensBookDay!
Today we celebrate the wondrous children’s books that introduce young readers to remarkable women—from Drs. Wu & Maathai to Drs. Goodall & Bath & so many more. Share their stories of exploration, discovery, courage, persistence...

Babies have very little vitamin K in their first months of life.
Before doctors started routinely giving vitamin K shots to newborns in 1961, up to one in 60 babies developed serious bleeding (including the brain) due to a vitamin K deficiency. This is just a vitamin, not a vaccine.
Why is a 20-year-old study "still under fire"?
Because:
- it was wrong
- the lead author lied to conceal it
- millions of women and infants were harmed
- other death investigations were misled
- when shown this, major institutions looked away
