For those who missed it: this was the moment The Strokes ensured they’ll never be invited back to Coachella again! I'm so proud of them
An orange illustration of two glass bottles that hold magic liquids. There are two yellow stars at the top and one of the bottom left. At the top of the image reads: “The Trees and the Frogs and the Sun on the Water” M. R. Robinson” in white text. In the middle of the graphic, there is a quote from the story that reads: “Before Rosemarie fell in love, she filled every scrap of silence with a song. A harvest tune, sung over the thwick-thwack slap of dough against the countertop; fragments of a lullaby, the melody guiding her needle until even the embroidered birds seemed to sing along; or, sometimes, both parts of carol, call and response alike, pretending she wasn’t nearly so lonely.” in brown text. Underneath it reads: “Tales & Feathers Magazine — Volume 4” in white text. At the bottom is the link to the story: https://augursociety.org/the-trees-and-the-frogs-and-the-sun-on-the-water/

“The Trees and the Frogs and the Sun on the Water” by @mruthrobinson.bsky.social is a tender tale of love, poetry, and misfired magic.🔥📖

Hey, look at me getting this post up not on a Thursday! This week I focused on a single author, @ayidashonibar.bsky.social , and got the chance to yell about both fiction and nonfiction! I couldn't help it though, I love some good, good fungus talk.
We didn't deserve this day.
If you’re an American should watch the Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown ep on Iran. A deeply humanizing look at a country full of people just like you and me. I watched it after Anthony died and it moved in ways that are hard to relay. I also immediately ran out to try kabob koobideh and tahdig.

A powerfully imaginative story of a young woman seeking to save her family and her home a devastating meditation on the destruction of the natural world for an industrial future.

Congress has an obligation to stop the unhinged madness in the Oval Office imperiling American & Iranian lives alike. This war is unprovoked & unauthorized & Trump is unchecked. Article II Sec 4 is not suggested reading. It’s for moments like these. Come back from recess and act.

Reminder: if anybody starts spewing crap about how disabled writers need AI/LLMs, at least one of the following applies:
1. They fucking hate disabled people.
2. They are clueless about writing prior to 2022, often done by disabled people.
3. They are shills.
4. They are 3 GPTs in a trenchcoat.
There’s nothing to be gained in hating me. I neither asked for you, nor have any power to send you away. Our Most Sacred King has decided I require a companion, and therefore one has been acquired.

@srinivassimo.bsky.social's The Vetala of Cystal Vellam Inlet is one of the very first stories I read and was immediately in love. Such assured storytelling. Its hard to do humor well in short fiction but Simo is a master.

Ahhhh, my poem “The Mourning Robot” is a finalist for the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Poem! I wrote this poem in a hospital room and it’s a nod to all the invisible caretakers who love, sacrifice and mourn for the living.
The nominating period for the 2026 Rhysling Awards is officially closed, and nominations have been verified. Thank you to all the members who sent in nominations this year!
