Tonight, Senate Republicans — aided by eight Democrats — passed a funding bill that will raise healthcare premiums for millions of Americans and leave some families without health care at all.

Let's discuss.

House Speaker: Income tax reform may be delayed House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown said Wednesday that while she supports higher income tax brackets, she did not want to rush the changes.

This has been worked on for over a decade. It's time to stop messing around and tax the rich. spotlightdelaware.org/2025/05/22/h...

Now comes the hard part. An agreement must be reached between both versions of the legislation that still moves us towards a universal program. We'll keep you updated on how you can help.

Universal free school meals legislation has been passed out of committee! Thank you to all of the community members who testified in support, all the legislators who voted it out, and of course Rep. Rae Moore for working tirelessly to pass this bill.

In the past year, the number of hungry children in our state has increased by more than 7,000. We need to stop playing politics around this issue and allow the full school meals bill to be heard.

HB 125, which would provide all students with free school meals, has not yet received a hearing in the House Education Committee. But HB 91 which was introduced after HB 125 and would only cover children who are at or below 225% of the Federal Poverty Line, is scheduled for a committee hearing today

Delaware Working Families Party Statement on Passage of SB21

DOVER, DE — The Delaware Working Families Party on Tuesday released the following statement after the Delaware House of Representatives passed SB21, a bill that would overhaul the state’s laws governing payouts to company shareholders, empowering large shareholders over smaller ones.

Karl Stomberg, the Delaware Working Families Party Political Director, released the following statement:

“At a time when rank-and-file Democrats across the country are begging their leaders to stand up to Donald Trump and Elon Musk, Delaware Democrats just gave Musk a $56 billion handout, while Working Families Democrats voted against it.

“The Working Families Party has been standing up against this proposed bill for weeks now, and we recognize the need to fight back against corporate overreach in our government.

“WFP electeds proposed serious amendments to address our concerns with the bill that would protect the people of Delaware, but the Democrats chose to side with Musk and vote them down.

“This bill is an indictment of the failed Delaware Way, which continues to allow big corporations and the ultra-wealthy like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg to enrich themselves at the expense of working people.

“We look forward to the September 2026 primaries.”

If you choose to represent billionaires over the people, the people will choose someone who actually represents them. See you in September 2026.

Senate Bill 21 would harm pension funds and 401k's while giving billionaires a license to steal. Rep. @madinahfordelaware.bsky.social breaks down the legislation and why the arguments in favor of the bill don't quite add up.

Former Gov. John Carney and Gov.-elect Matt Meyer talk FY26 Budget, future of financial reserves Among his final acts as governor, John Carney releases a recommended fiscal year 2026 state budget for Gov.-elect Matt Meyer to consider.

Congratulations to Governor Meyer on officially being sworn in today. We’re hopeful about many of the governor’s early statements about requiring wealthy Delawareans to pay their fair share of taxes, and excited to work together to help working families.
