One organization can obviously run more efficiently and cost less than 50 separate organizations. Disasters aren't contained by state boundaries, either. There's a reason we are called the 'United' States.

It's amazing how many people simply don't use role reversal when thinking about any situation. If we were attacked, any idea of changing our government would fade completely as we all rallied as Americans against a common threat. The same is true for Iranians.

The unanimous vote on the Treaty of Tripoli in the 1797 Congress, by men who had created and built the USA, said in no uncertain terms, "...the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian Religion...".

Back in the day, no US official would make reckless statements like this, because they had real power and worked behind the scenes to accomplish geopolitical goals. (carefully coordinated with allies) This sounds more like the final bleats of a flailing empire.

Regrettably for US interests, and the world's economy, Iran has a say in this, and the US just killed thousands of their citizens, including the family of its new leader. I don't think they're just going to say, "oh, okay, it's all good now".

"The Navy has had no dedicated minesweepers in the Persian Gulf since last September, when the last of four specialized mine-countermeasures ship that had served in the Persian Gulf for decades was decommissioned at the US Navy facility in Bahrain."

Iran can deploy mines with their small fast boat fleet, if they need to, and they have hundreds of them. And after the mines are deployed, the horse is out of the barn. There is also no chance the US Navy would escort tankers through that death trap, they're too smart to do something that dumb.
