Games I Completed in 2026 #4:
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

I really enjoyed this game. It's my first PS5 game and my first Ratchet and Clank game.

The whole game just feels great to play.

I intend to play some of the older games in the series now.

Apparently I've been off BlueSky for more than a month.

March was pretty crazy, but not because of games. Just super busy.

The only game I played in March is World of Warcraft: Midnight. I'm enjoying it, but I also haven't seen like 70% of the content yet. Silvermoon City is pretty.

Yeah - It went on my Switch wish list years ago when it caught my eye for similar reasons. I bought it on sale for a few dollars.

In the end, not really anything like The Wind Waker. You traverse water and visit small islands, but the similarities end there.

Games I Completed in 2026 #3:
Wavetale

Really cute short game. Character movement feels great.

There's not much too it. The whole game is a series of small quests to find lost items and flip switches. If the game was much longer, it would be boring - but I think it's about the perfect length.

I feel similarly about a lot of FOSS tools. There are so many tools that sound awesome, and then I see the GUI and it just feels awful.

It's hard to convince people that they don't need [insert popular paid app] when the free version feels decades behind from the moment you see it.

I fall into this a lot as well. I'm being a snob, but I don't like ugly interfaces.

I'd rather pay Nintendo for their subscription and use the Switch UI than bother with RetroArch, Dolphin, etc.

It takes hours of setup to get a slightly pretty UI in RetroArch, and it's still years behind.

I do think the UI/UX plays some role in keeping folks away.

Even if you ignore Nintendo's whining and understand you aren't going to be arrested, you're pretty quickly met with weird interfaces that just don't match gaming on other platforms.

I feel this. My youngest sibling is 10 years younger, and our tech lives are very different. They embrace every new thing with no regard for the privacy concerns (I've heard "I have nothing to hide" several times).

They aren't tech illiterate, but definitely happy to use the mainstream solutions.

I had my first chat with Lars, the founder of @zeldauniverse.bsky.social, about 23 years ago. He agreed to host my #Zelda fan site on a subdomain of ZU. ๐Ÿ˜€

It's been many years since we last spoke, but I'm a ZU webmaster now and I felt it was important to reach out for the 25th anniversary.

I love Zelda 2, obviously, but it has never been in my top 5. It's best ranking was 6, and it's lower now because of new games being released pushing it further down the list. I think it's at rank 8 or 9 now.

The correct answer is:

1. A Link to the Past
2. Ocarina of Time
3. Breath of the Wild

I did cover one side, and it does work better that way. When the second image is not visible, my eyes were able to focus on the single tiny screen better.

It's still very small and difficult to focus on though.

I'm really going to have to lay on a bed and Sword Art Online this nonsense to play Virtual Boy on Switch, aren't I? ๐Ÿ™„

We finally have a photo of the previously unseen Zelda 1 art on display at the Nintendo Museum.

The cartouche in the top right, subtitled "THE MAP OF HYRULE," depicts 3 fairy/goddess figures unfolding a cloth (making the world?). Miyamoto's signature is on the bottom right.

If you cannot upgrade to Windows 11 or just don't want to because all the nonsense, I suggest looking into Linux. There's a good chance it does everything you need, and it may actually be faster and simpler after you get past the initial setup.

My only special driver problem was for my wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse. I needed to install a program (from the app store) to make them work, and I had to dig out a wired keyboard and mouse to use for the initial setup.

If I had not specifically set out to install 2 Windows applications, I would not have needed to use the Terminal for anything.

Linux Mint has all the basics pre-installed and an app store for the rest. It all runs very smoothly and has been remarkably simple to work with.

I have very few reasons to stick with Windows now.

I dislike using Adobe software, but it's still a requirement for some of my work.

I have Affinity Studio running on Linux Mint. It's not perfect, but it works.

And I have World of Warcraft running as well. It's the only PC game I play regularly.

I'm using @linuxmint.com as my first distro. I have multiple computers, and I plan to try some others (Bazzite has been recommended a lot for gaming) on my other devices.

My situation allows me to keep my Windows work laptop and one Windows home laptop for situations where I must have it.
