these are probably the games that had the most impact on me throughout my life (in chronological order from when i first played them)

as you can tell i only really play three genres of games lmao

can we bring back 117? that would at least help fill the dead space between 69 and 420

im fine with having a new funny number around the internet. its just sad that it had to be so close to another already existing funny number. we need them spaced out a bit more... you have two funny numbers right near each other and then nothing funny for another 350 or so

simply perform nuclear fission inside your body and turn the tungsten into iron and cadmium (safe)

i always think i know about everything in c# and i just never do

video games are better than the sum of their parts. the art and music and enemy design and map design and setting and world building and the mystery and just the feeling of navigating these antagonistic as hell ruins really stuck with me

i had a fantastic time with la mulana despite all of its shortcomings and i'm very excited to play the sequel immediately lol. there's something really special to me about puzzle/ exploration games like this, even if the puzzles themselves aren't the best

it's also just fucking huge. i thought i was close to done like a third of the way in lmao. maybe some of that was constantly not knowing what to do and getting lost but honestly i think that's my favorite thing to do in games LOL

and it just oozes heart from every aspect of it. i haven't played a game where i can feel how much passion the devs put into it in a very long time. the stuff that feels so clunky in this game also feels so human. none of it feels like corporate slop or like it's phoned in at all

it's one of those games where basically every specific of the gameplay sucks ass. the controls suck, the combat sucks, the puzzles suck a lot at times (shoutouts to the gate of illusion), the progression kinda sucks because you never know what you're supposed to be doing, but as a whole it's great

and all of the music is top tier vgm. i can tell that almost every aspect of this game is going to be lodged in my head for the rest of my life. i can with full confidence draw a map of the entire ruins and tell you what is in every room. maybe that's because you have to wander so much but idgaf

and yet despite all of the specifics of the game feeling so bad, this game was so fucking fun. not one point in my time playing it did i get bored (though i did get annoyed at some points lol). i loved wandering around the world, i loved the designs of everything, it just felt so good to explore

almost all of the combat encounters suck complete ass. they're all really really cool designs and really cool set pieces but the actual gameplay is so awful for most of them. for almost all of the major bosses the hurtbox is as big or bigger than the hitbox so actually hitting them is way too hard

so many of the things you have to do in the middle to late game only tangentially really make any sense and i have to wonder how much of that is intentional and how much was lost in translation. but given how much this game pranks you i think it's probably leaning more towards intentional lol

and it's not necessarily the good type of cryptic.. the final big puzzle basically makes no sense given the information in the game lol. it's also one of those games where you just kind of have to have a huge collage of notes and one random thing from a million years ago might suddenly matter

this game was such a fucking experience. it took around 60 hours to fully beat it and even then i definitely expedited some of the wandering around time near the end by just looking some shit up because wow this game is cryptic as hell

it's 2026 and instead of playing all the new games i wanted to check out like e33 i decided to play la mulana for the first time. i feel like the only games i play nowadays are puzzle and exploration games and i felt like this was a big gap in my experience in the genre
