This project will couple citizen-led field-based and remote sensing observations at proglacial lakes in Iceland to uncover lake–glacier dynamics at high temporal frequency.
This PhD is part of the Net Zero Polar Science DTP, which aims to make polar science possible in a net zero world.

New paper today in @science.org focused on unraveling the chain of events that led to the 2023 Teesta disaster, which resulted in about 130 people either dead or missing in Sikkim, India. Short thread to follow. 🧪⚒️ doi.org/10.1126/scie...
Our new paper in Science (Sattar et al 2025) analyses the causes, process and impacts of the 3-4 October 2023 landslide-triggered GLOF along the Teesta River in Northern India. This was an amazing event - I've provided a summary of the research on the Landslide Blog:- eos.org/thelandslide...

Change in the LHI from 1990–2014 to 2091–2100 for the high mountains of Asia the two climate scenarios. Both show elevated occurrence of landslides across a wide area. From Stanley et al. (2024).
A really interesting paper in the AGU journal Earth's Future (Stanley et al. 2024) suggests that landslide hazard in the high mountains of Asia will increase under the effects of climate change.

I'm pleased to announce our exciting new paper in Comms Earth & Environment: 'Proximity to active volcanoes enhances glacier velocity', in which we find glaciers located near volcanoes flow almost 50% faster than those located elsewhere. @natureportfolio.bsky.social
