Our featured image, acquired by Emily Oren, shows the surface stiffness of an Arabidopsis thaliana hypocotyl. It was acquired using a Bruker Biowizard 5 Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and is of plasmolysed epidermal cells on a live seedling. In this image, brighter colours correspond with a higher Young’s Modulus. The stiff anticlinal cell walls are clearly visible, as well as the distinctive stiffness pattern of the guard cells surrounding the stomatal pore.

Working prototype of a heating/cooling modular algae photobioreactor with built in bubbler, multispectral sensor, and grow light. No custom PCB's. All off the shelf parts. Simple arduino code. Open source. This one's for @kylelauersen.bsky.social. I love making lab hardware. #scisky

Welcome to the #devbiolwriteclub Bluesky Boot Camp! I’ll be posting here regularly with thoughts and exercises to help scientists become better writers. Let’s start by managing expectations: I will NOT help you write better. I WILL help you become a better writer. 🧵 1/10
