While the court found that geofence warrants are not inherently unconstitutional, they made clear that police do not have unchecked power to rummage through the private location data of anyone who comes within the geofence.
Our Constitution dictates that no president unilaterally has the right to change election laws — that's why we're challenging President Trump's undemocratic attacks on mail-in voting.

For more than a century, the Supreme Court has affirmed the 14th Amendment right that guarantees children born in the United States are citizens.
The Supreme Court must not cower to the president’s will and upend this national promise.

Today, the Supreme Court heard arguments in our nationwide class action brought by the ACLU and partners on behalf of children who would be denied citizenship under one of President Trump’s executive orders.
By attacking birthright citizenship, President Trump is defying the Constitution again.
Bold text in all capitals reads "birthright citizenship is a core pillar of our nation" with italicized text below reading "President Trump doesn't have the power to change that." In the lower half of the graphic, a protester holds a sign that reads "Citizenship is a birthright"
The Constitution defines who gets to be a citizen, not the president.
"While the world watched, Minnesotans did not waver," ACLU-MN Executive Director Deepinder Mayell told the crowd at No Kings in St. Paul. "Minnesotans did not hesitate. Minnesotans did not capitulate. No. Minnesotans held their ground and showed the world what the words 'We the People' really mean."
You don't need a permit to protest in streets or on sidewalks if you're not obstructing traffic or access to buildings. You have the right to photograph anything in plain view, including police. If stopped by police, ask if you're free to go. Walk away. If arrested, ask for a lawyers immediately. Do not sign, say, or agree to anything without a lawyer present.
Before you head out for another No Kings rally, remember your rights as a protester!

When ICE agents tear apart our communities, we take to the streets. When the Trump administration tries to silence dissent, we just get louder.

When a Minneapolis man, a U.S. citizen, asked an ICE agent why he needed to show his documents, the agent said “because of your accent.”

The ACLU of Minnesota supports Rep. Brad Tabke's bill, HF 4205, which will limit the use of data collected from ALPRs which were misused during Operation Metro Surge.

In a February filing, the federal government claimed that, of the agents deployed in Operation Metro Surge, 407 federal agents would remain in Minnesota into March. However, on March 4, the government filed a document that revealed there are still 482 agents in Minnesota.
After hearing the brave testimony of Minnesotans who were racially profiled by federal immigration agents, the court found that our clients made a clear showing that the agents were following an unlawful policy to stop and arrest Minnesotans in violation of their rights.

The Trump administration's mass deportation dragnet has unleashed a new wave of government surveillance across the country.
Here in Minnesota, federal agents continue to surveil, track, and intimidate people for exercising our First Amendment rights.

A recent report from Reuters documented court rulings: ICE illegally detained people more than 4,400 times since October 2025.
Tell Congress at aclu.org/stop-ice-attacks_ to hold the line and rein in ICE's abuses now.
"Nearly three weeks after federal officials announced that Operation Metro Surge was over, close to 650 federal agents remain in Minnesota."

Sign our petition and demand that your lawmaker vote YES on banning 287(g) agreements when the time comes.
287(g) agreements enlist local law enforcement to work for ICE and are proliferating in Minnesota. This makes our state less safe, less fair, and less free.

Federal immigration agents are using a facial recognition app called "Mobile Fortify" across the country.

For the first time in over a century, families across the U.S. have to fear their children growing up without citizenship in the only home they've ever known.
We'll be defending the right of birthright citizenship at the Supreme Court on April 1 in our case Barbara v. Trump.
ICE’s violent lawlessness has no place in our communities.
Call your members of Congress now to urge them to block any bill that funds DHS without reining in their abuses.
A 287(g) agreement is when local law enforcement signs an agreement with ICE. This waste of taxpayer money erodes trust between local law enforcement & the communities they serve.
We're calling for the Legislature to pass HF 3413 to end all 287(g) agreements in Minnesota.

ICE may try to use an administrative warrant to enter the premises. You do not have to let them inside unless they present a warrant signed by a judge.
If ICE attempts to enter the premises, ask to see the judicial warrant.
Yesterday, the federal government filed sworn statements in our case Hussen v. Noem. The statements reveal the number of Operation Metro Surge (OMS) agents currently deployed in Minnesota and the number of OMS agents projected to be deployed in our state into March.
