No, but it almost certainly had a pair of these at C4 & C5 across the mains feed to the transformer (look at that dome bulge). Its now pretty much a dead short. This one vented boiling fluid in quite a spectacular way (honest). Took ages to clean the gunge off the board.

LOL, perhaps I'll be 'lucky' when the replacement caps arrive.

I'm never quick enough with my phone camera to capture magic smoke action. Had a spectacular display from my Superbrain PSU just the other day where one of the big mains filer electrolytics went off under test - vertical plume rather like a flare - it also released bubbling juice all over the board.

Never seen these but I want one now. Will have to scour the cupboards and doorstops at BT to find one.

It's currently not taxed either. Should be towed.

Note to self: do more research befor you buy stuff. Why did I think this Apricot 'portable' was the size of an Atari portfolio or an HP Palmtop ? This thing is MASSIVE - It is heavier than my Osborne 1.

Pleased with the RetroBrite finish on this early CoCo 1 keyboard I recently acquired. Before and after shot for your viewing pleasure. Quite a nice machine that came in a bundle with two floppy drives, the interface cart and loads of books. Oh, and a USB HUB and crappy USB webcam for some reason.

I think they also did a deep fried version for the Scottish market too.

This one certainly is.

Yes, I have been looking at something similar for a sutcase handle cover. I'll probably do that for now but I plan to drill out the rivets and replace the entire handle with a real leather handle normally used on a guitar amplifier.

Don't blame you. That 7" screen is massive. What will you do with it all ?

Handle needs sorting as the leather has rotted away after 40 years in a loft.

Happy with the Osborne 1 I picked up last week. Needed the PSU filter caps and a few significantly out of spec capacitors replaced before it would fire up. A good clean, drive lube and a spot of Retrobrite.

Will continue the Retrobrite endeavours on this tomorrow. Wonder if this Osborne 1 will 'just work' after 40 years in the previous owners loft.

I'm lucky enough to still have two of them. I also remember using one at Morriston comp. back in about '82 Just before I got my hands on a Commodore 64.

Gosh. What didn't I spray it with ?
After sanding, filling the gouges, I used a high build primer, a white primer, more sanding and flatting. Topcoat was an antique ivory white and a satin clear coat on top. For the front panel I used a stone textured finish and then a RAL3019 (grey/brown) top coat.

Just a few days ago this Televideo 910 terminal was more yellow than a Benson & Hedges QA staffers fingers. Easter sunshine and some hair dye (Peroxide) has worked wonders. Hope the sun lasts.

Keyboard is letting the side down when sat inside the refurbished Superbrain case. Need the Easter Sun to retrobrite those.

Quite pleased with the way the Superbrain case is coming along.
Very difficult to get a clean line between the grew/brown front panel and the white case. Take a look at the (untouched inside) its a horrible mess of misshaped dirty resin case hand shaped with epoxy/melting to make things fit

While I wait for repair parts for the scruffy and damaged Superbrain, I have used the good weather this morning to prep the case. Filler for the deep gouges, sanding, high build primer and yet more sanding to come. Trying to maintain the slightly dimpled texture using some splutter on the spray gun.

I bet all 24 can fit on it too ! ๐Ÿ˜€

oof thats a beast. It dwarfs the huge HP analyser.

Yes, tube is OK. The LOPT is not as bad as I thought - it seems the mounting bar that holds the ferrite core together AND mounts it to the chassis has snapped so it is just dangling around.
The machine has been messed about and needs rebuilding. Warm weather coming so I'll be testing the finishes.

Random capacitor mystery solved. Perhaps this Zener Diode (CR412) got so hot it desoldered the bipolar capacitor next to it (C441).

Oh dear. The 'bargain' Superbrain may not be such a bargain. Looks like it has been thrown down a flight of stairs. Scruffy on the outside but smashed to bits inside. LOPT broken, CRT board coils snapped, random capacitors found inside......

Yay !. On a bit of a roll with CRT repairs this week (and I hate probing around on live CRT boards), This Televideo 910 terminal now running after a CRTC replacement on the main board and then a bulging C306 (Bipolar cap in the horizontal drive circuit) replacement on the CRT board.
