Found a really nice Dutch grant for turning our WARN-D pipeline that forecasts depression onset for young adults into an actionable system for people at risk. Grant requires a Dutch tech partner, preferably with an existing app that can be adapted to ours needs. Any interest? Please get in touch.

Hi folks! For a methods validation paper, we're looking for a large, cross-sectional, psychometric dataset that will show considerable heterogeneity in item responses, preferably, based on different classes/clusters/groups of people. Open access optimal, but if you have one you'd share w me ...
After 5 years of data collection, our WARN-D machine learning competition to forecast depression onset is now LIVE! We hope many of you will participate—we have incredibly rich data.
If you share a single thing of my lab this year, please make it this competition.

This looks beautiful. And very timely translational work also for the fMRI folk who just got a fresh reminder about the complexities of their signal. Not sure if you discuss in the paper because it doesn't download for me atm :-)
I had some experts in the field recommend to call it simply fMRI signal rather than BOLD for greater accuracy. And for a decade I watched what I felt was much of the fMRI community more or less ignore these issues, it would be great to see more integration of these findings.
As Alex points out the complexities are known for two decades now, recommend the review. Several papers pointing out stronger relationships to LFP than spikes already back then, Niessing 05, Viswanathan 07, Sawamura and Vogels did a detailed study of fmri adaptation and its issues specifically.

Please spread the word! I am recruiting a PhD student this cycle (Fall 2026 start) to join my team in a new venture: the neuroscience of mood.
If you are curious to learn more, this short talk provides a good overview of why, what and how.

That sounds really cool, looking forward to it!
I actually experience face pareidolia with the upper part of that tree. And I am not sure if this has a name, but related to our tendency to see faces there is certainly our tendency to add faces to things :-)
In Germany we have the word Muße which denotes a peaceful free time with inner quiet. It is associated with creativity. Apparently the Romans also had such a notion.
I’ve officially moved to BlueSky - yes i’m a little slow! You’ll soon get a following notice from me as I ‘bridged’ my X account - I hope that wasn’t a mistake.
Welcome Michele! This place has some nice features so you can find new and old friends. E.g. feeds/lists like brain and mind researchers and women in neuroscience and neuroskyence and fantastic nerdy communities on bees, sharks, books... And you can be on those lists too, just message the list owner
Pleased to say "Space, Time, and Memory", an academic book by Oxford University Press edited by the inimitable Lynn Nadel & Sara Aronowitz is now out.
I contributed a chapter, "Memory and Planning in Brains and Machines".

Yossi Yovel's book is out! 🦇 Yossi, the Batman, is not only a super original neuroscientist, he's also a great writer and adventurer. Recenlty he's been releasing, one by one, his tales from the jungles. Get his book on promotion here: bit.ly/TheGeniusBatBN
is anyone working on cortical waves (traveling, rotational, etc) looking for a faculty position? we'll soon be hiring in Korea, at our center where multiple labs (ephys, optical imaging, human neuroimaging) are interested in collaborating w/ theoreticians
pls DM/email for informal inquiries
