This assumes rational decision making on the part of the electorate and I just don’t think that’s true for most. For most - I suspect it’s tribalism. So many solid red states are harmed by his policies - but they vote that way anyway.

This may be an extreme outlier for cases you’ve considered, but RNAseq count data uses NB over Poisson, I assume because of over-dispersion and 0-inflation.
