Huh? Are we going backwards? I was taught something like this in the aughts but with the caveat that there could be bad info on any of those, too. And obviously .net was also mentioned

I've heard that a lot of the tech companies that began to move into Texas quietly went back to California and left a bunch of empty offices or something?

His world view seems weirder than that and at times inscrutable to me. His theory of liberal American politics is predicated on his ill-defined, pretentious ideas of a "River" and a "Village" as two distinct groups in the Dem party

The lines that divided the parties back then are the same ones that divide us today between north and south, then eventually free state and slave state. Those divides have been in the same geographic places since over a hundred years before the country was founded

All the reading I did at the time suggests it was massively foolish even back then to assume that if you just wish upon a star, political parties won't naturally emerge. And they immediately did, especially since there were two extremely distinct cultures with distinct industries since the 1600s

I'm currently taking a CS degree and I'm desperate for an experience like this. If you're not good at it intuitively, building the skill to follow complicated flows of logic is hard. Almost no CS class I've taken has addressed this

If he fires a nuke then all China, Pakistan and India would know is that it's flying in their general direction and would have minutes to act to try to decapitate the US with their own nukes. If any of them fired a nuke then the same would happen across Europe. It would be Armageddon

The more I want something to be true, the more I feel compelled to double check

The danger for me is that if I don't care if it's true or not but still find it interesting, I feel less compelled to check. Horseshoe Theory of Internet Misinformation

My first thought is that this was probably editorialized from a study that basically found boomers are generally complacent whether or not that's harmful to them to BE complacent

Like maybe it would be good to think more deeply about it

Yeah I get the pun. I remember when she started it and kinda rolled my eyes about it. But back then Mueller was a symbol of hope and resistance. And now he's a symbol of failure, impotence and decline

It's not that deep but it IS embarrassing and makes her harder to take seriously

They're relevant but when I think of "Mueller" I think of a massive institutional failure that was the beginning of the end of American norms and a triumph of Trumpism. The decision to tie your brand about resisting Trumpism to failure to stop Trumpism is weird to me I guess

Why do you still use his name still, though? Isn't he kind of representative of the system's failures to rein in an autocrat? It's like naming yourself Chamberlain of Secrets or something

I've been looking forward to these for ages. He sounds like if Weinstein was a childrens' entertainer while looking and talking exactly like he does

Lot of parallels with Weinstein, including having ties with a head of state, like how Weinstein was relatively close to the Clintons and the Obamas

I think I've hit a floor where I can't be surprised or any angrier than I am right now

If Trump walked outside, shot a random person in the head then had Congress and the SCOTUS circle wagons to protect him, yeah, that sounds about right

Seems like a good analysis. I keep seeing so much about how it's the wrong color, wrong size, other countries have missiles that look similar, it didn't even properly explode, etc, and I simply don't have the wealth of knowledge about missiles to know how to begin fact checking.
