NEW: The NYT said that the AI-powered GLP-1 middleman startup Medvi — which is reportedly on track to do $1.8b in sales — cleaned up its act after taking deceptive marketing "shortcuts."
But it didn't.
More on: fake Medvi clients, fake doctors, and an FDA warning...

April Fools ended for me in 2009 when Symantec Anti-virus was doing a homepage takeover of Gizmodo, who decided their prank would be "making it seem like Gizmodo got hacked."
Symantec didn't see the humor in anti-virus ads sponsoring a hacked site. web.archive.org/web/20090402...
Just so you understand, this is as if you prepared for argument in front of a panel that included Cookie Monster, and Cookie Monster asked you a question about cookies, and you had not thought about cookies in advance.
Gridskipper lives!

BuzzFeed dying after chasing profits into a sinkhole vs. Gawker getting killed for challenging entrenched power is the perfect conclusion to the 2010s content philosophy wars.
6) that it is a total coincidence that the two outlets with the best Epstein coverage - Gawker and @miamiherald.com - were subsequently sued into oblivion by Peter #Thiel or taken over by private equity;
I think you're hitting the wrong button
Not naming the company because I've seen There Will Be Blood, The Godfather, and Dumb & Dumber enough times to know you don't mess with the gas man.
Due to an archaic, web 1.0-ass website, I did not confirm my order, i only "placed" it. When I followed up to their email, they tried to charge me today's market rate, which was $4.60-ish.
I told you, constant war.
I "gently" told them we would not be doing that and they ran the order from Monday.
My home uses heating oil, which gets delivered by a company I am at constant war with. I'm also deeply reliant on them.
A month ago a gallon was $3.80. Anticipating a spike (and rejecting their price lock after our last argument), I placed a market rate order this past Monday at $4.26.
I will cop to using Gemini to make this even though I could have totally made it myself (though honestly credit where it's due, it came up with Fly Farts all by itself and somehow knew to keep party poker exactly the same)
The kneejerk reaction to say we *should* keep kids out of corners of the internet is one I understand, but this isn’t the way.
We’ve seen this in the gaming space. Parents need to monitor their kids’ online habits, not politicians, and certainly not AI.
Parent your damn kids.
Highlight so far is this MPD officer stopping his patrol of the USIP building to grab a cooke and saying to himself, "When in Rome, man."
This reminds me, I haven't watched Ren and Stimpy in forever

Now look is it possible this is some of that conspiracy bait evidence planted by the administration to place blame on the Russians or a different mob? Sure. I guess. Does that really matter though? Somebody subpeona this guy and let's find out!
Lmao "Deluxe Edition comes with limited floppy disk version" feels like a moneymaker
I've wanted to read this story of yours for years after you told me about it, email it to me and let's chat how to get it binded (and possibly sold)
Ashleigh Banfield indeed "looking for love in all the wrong places."
Gotta give him credit for this one, the branding is on point.
Counterpoint: We got to this point by looking away from state sanctioned violent impunity, the only reason we're seeing the levels of outrage we're seeing now is because enough people are seeing the horror.
Nobody should be traumatized by autoplay but nobody should be executed for resisting either
"You are allowed to say, at any point, I can't support this. Even if you did. Even if you were unsure. You can say "this has gone too far." And while the best time to say that was earlier, the second best time is now."
When humans do this we call it "smoking"
