Sources: SAVE America Act Not Dead Yet A Capitol Hill source says Rep. Anna Paulina Luna's assertion that John Thune is done with the election-integrity bill 'is not true.'

This article is from the conservative site The Federalist but its honestly a better overview than what was posted

Just to note: per the article it hasn't "died" per se - An R rep is simply saying that Thune won't bring it to a vote. It is still considered pending business in the Senate and could be brought for a vote at any time.

it won't be dead until they vote against it

Once upon a time there was a 3rd Dem in this race (Jordan Wood) who is smart & experienced & a wonk & wants to tax millionaires & end citizens united and create single payer healthcare, but he moved over to the CD2 race once it became all this

I guess I just hope Platner is better than he seems

“We don’t need another Fetterman in the Senate,” says Graham Platner.

Irony just choked to death on a clam strip.

Whistleblower says Trump officials thought USAID did 'just abortions,' asked for 'Barney-style' slides before gutting agency, per new book Read an exclusive excerpt from Nicholas Enrich's "Into the Wood Chipper"

NEW—I got an exclusive excerpt from a USAID whistleblower's new book that made me gasp multiple times. It details Trump's dismantling of the humanitarian aid agency & his team/DOGE's shocking ignorance to public health.

'Into the Wood Chipper' by Nicholas Enrich is out tomorrow. Read excerpt here:

There are a surprising number of people in politics + media who don't understand that nuclear launch authority rests solely with POTUS. Trump doesn't need clearance from Congress or the courts. Even preemptively. All that stands between him and nuclear war are military refusing to follow his orders.

When I was in kindergarten we were given a book from The Red Cross about how to help in an emergency - how to bandage up a cut, Heimlich maneuver, things like that.

The last page was how to improvise a fallout shelter in your basement with mattresses.

Actually, let me say it in a slightly gentler way - I moved through the first four stages of grief about the state of our nation a long time ago. I'm now in acceptance.

This is the country we have. All I can do - the BEST thing I can do - is try to mitigate the damage for the folks closest to me

I’m not brainwashed and I’m not spineless. I’m certainly not complicit. My house rep is already in favor of impeachment and my Senator is Susan Collins.

You tell me what concrete action I can take to stop this?

Being resigned and being complicit are not the same thing.

You are a senator.

I want to stress this is not disassociating. It’s the opposite actually. It’s the feeling that I’d better enjoy every moment because who knows…

I would love it if someone did something: 25th, impeachment, just saying “no we are not doing that” I’m hopeful someone will. But its outside my influence

In Korea, when the president declared martial law after midnight and erected barricades in Seoul, congressional reps from all parties ran into the streets, yanked ak47s from the army at the barricades, broke down the locked door to Congress, repealed the martial law order, and arrested the president

As a child of the Cold War I can say with some confidence that this is the definition of “things I am powerless to stop”

There are people who could stop it, but I am not one of them

I did not really expect the 80s to come back in this exact way, but here we are

Roe v. Wade was a 7-2 decision. But reactionaries made it their white whale, and spent 50 years building a far-right Supreme Court that would overturn it. I’m not saying the same thing will happen with birthright citizenship. I’m just saying that any dissent in this case will leave that door open.

should be 9-0
that would be not even close
7-2 implies there is a case there
THERE IS NO CASE

A single vote for Trump in the birthright citizenship case would be as bad as anything the Court has done since Bush v. Gore. This issue has been settled for more than a century. It is the jurisprudential equivalent of asking what 2+2 is. Any answer other than 4, something is deeply, deeply wrong.

The strongest knights went first. Large hands on the hilt, feet firmly planted on the stone, muscles bulging... The sword would not budge.

One by one they failed, knights and nobles.

They laughed when a maid walked up and patted the stone fondly.

"Sweetie, can you please let go for me?"

It did.

The image shows a digital book cover displayed in a library or reading app interface. The book is “Project Hail Mary” by Andy Weir. The cover art features a man floating upside down in what appears to be a futuristic or space-like environment, with glowing lights and a sense of motion around him. The title “HAIL MARY” is written in large, bold letters across the lower half, with “PROJECT” above it. At the top, the author’s name, “Andy Weir,” is prominently displayed, along with a note mentioning he is the author of The Martian.

Below the cover, there is a teal button labeled “HOLD,” indicating the option to place a hold on the book. Under the button, text reads “Available in 6 years,” suggesting a long wait time for borrowing the book.

Thoughts after seeing Project Hail Mary
- did they send him like 20 pair of backup glasses?
- dental plaque buildup during space travel must be terrible
- is Rocky warm?
- how is he not throwing up right now (x 5+)
- I blame Carl
- where do I get the “I had potential” tee shirt?

This person is insanely talented and after watching the video below, I recommend going to her Instagram and watching all the animated shorts as an alternative/antidote to doomscrolling (all the art is fantastic, but the stop-motion stuff is non-stop joy)
