The worst part of any bike ride is cars.

As parents age, their children face hard choices about when to take the car keys States have many policies to stop risky older drivers from renewing their licenses. But in practice, it's often adult children who must decide when to take the car keys away from an aging parent.

Articles like this always frame taking the keys away as a personal family tragedy. It’s actually a systemic infrastructure failure. We've built a society where losing a driver's license means losing your entire independence and connection to the world. It shouldn't be this way.

I want fully staffed public pools, and libraries that are cathedrals to public goods and a society where walling yourself off with money is viewed as sociopathic.

I Hope America Loses How is it that the best way to root for my country is to root against it?

The best thing for us right now would be to declare victory and get the fuck out. michaelianblack.substack.com/p/i-hope-ame...

Safe separated infrastructure is a win for everyone, let's have more, not less of it.

I've noted something during my walk around my city today. I normally ride my bicycle but seldom drive. I noticed way more stuff whilst moving at human speed. We miss so much when we drive!

Caring for infrastructure, affordability, jobs > foreign adventures by draft dodging elites like Trump to enrich oil companies and advance Israeli and Saudi interests!

I wrote this comic 2 years ago. I was terrified when I wrote it but had hope it wouldn't come to pass and would be a reminder of how bad things got before we pulled back.

It not only has, it has gotten even worse. This is absolutely terrifying and will destroy lives if passed.

Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.

I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.

Default crossing state changed to "WALK" for pedestrians and red light for motorists. Refractory period after the light goes red again so the flow of pedestrians isn't delayed more then necessary

There's a reason ambience videos never feature a six-lane stroad. People are instinctively drawn to tranquil, car-free spaces.

We shouldn't have to go to YouTube to find quiet, safe streets, we should be demanding the urban design changes that make them a reality.

It used to be that the United States would use Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty to transmit truth across the borders of repressive regimes.

Now the work of American reporters, having been censored, is being smuggled across the border to reach Americans.

If you love freedom but don’t care if it applies to everyone, what you actually love is privilege.

The internet seems it would be a place to get together, just the ads from TV and print followed us to our online interactions. Plus our own actions are monitored and commodified.

"Harvard can't use race as a factor in admissions, but ICE can use race as a factor in detentions" is a retrenchment essentially to a pre-Civil War understanding of the Constitution. It's vanishingly few steps removed from "Latinos have no rights which the white man is bound to respect."

This is the root of all American "conservatism". Put up as many layers and excuses as they can, but at its ugly, disgusting center, it is nothing more than white nationalist racism. They legitimately think this nation belongs to white people, forgetting all of its values. That is its objective.
