Also, I consumed this book via audiobook and the narrator, David Thorpe, did an amazing job.
This really was a great book. And I'm looking forward to picking up the next two in the series.

And the queer romantic plot is also really well done. It was fun seeing how Edwin and Robyn first recognize each other in a time when it's illegal to be a man who has sex with men, and to see how their relationship grows. And when there is sex, it's not excessive.
This queer historical fantasy was a brilliant ride. The world was super engaging. I slightly wish the magical system was more established, but with a good chunk of the story told those the POV of the person newest to magic, it makes sense. Still, this world is so rich that I can't wait to read more.

Okay. Novel progress is being made. Chapter 1 is now on V2.3. And I think that's enough of that for now.
Gotta edit a chapter of another project for someone else, then on to the many passes on Chapter 2.
I'm still bitten by the editing bug and almost done with this next pass of chapter one. After that, I'll move on to chapter two.
