Iโd love to attend if thereโs still room! Thanks for organizing this.
The SB 1098 working group was supposed to issue a report on LOSSAN governance reform by February. They didn't meet until after the deadline. Didn't post info for the March meeting until a week after it happened, preventing public input- and didn't discuss governance reform at all! What's going on??
Finally an article makes the impact of the @connectbayarea.bsky.social measure failing clear - after closing some stations BART would likely shut down ALL service within a couple of years.
We must pass this measure. It's an existential crisis not just for BART but for the Bay Area we know and love.
Electric Capitol Corridor and 3rd Track to Roseville need your support this Wed at 10 am. 3rd Track to Roseville will now take 24 years to finish, opening in 2036 with only 3 (not 10) trips. Email the board by 3 pm 2/17: #ElectrifyCapitolCorridor actionnetwork.org/letters/supp...
Today, the Trump administration repealed the endangerment finding: the ruling that served as the basis for limits on tailpipe emissions and power plant rules. Without it, weโll be less safe, less healthy and less able to fight climate changeโall so the fossil fuel industry can make even more money.
โHockey is for everyoneโ has to mean everyone. @usahockey.bsky.social new eligibility policy would bar trans athletes from sex-classified programs, including adult beer leagues, starting 2026-04-01. If you believe anyone can play, please sign and share: c.org/dfqBH74N9M #HockeyIsForEveryone
Trump just rolled back regulations on planet-warming greenhouse gases. California can step in by moving aggressively to electrify its passenger and freight railways, and get cars and trucks off the road.
One year ago, California released a great State Rail Plan, which lays out a path for statewide coordinated service, 1500 miles of electrification, new rail lines to smaller cities, and 15 min regional rail frequencies in all the major cities. Check out the highlights here:
A famous photograph taken in April 2000 during a federal raid in Miami connected to the custody and immigration case of a six-year-old Cuban boy whose situation had become an international political dispute between the United States and Cuba. The image shows armed federal agents entering a private home to seize the child, who is being held by a relative inside a closet.
This picture was taken in 2000 by an Associated Press photographer who was allowed to be present as an observer. ICE now keeps press blocks away from the areas where they are operating. One of the first actions ICE takes during a raid is to confiscate phones.
BART could drop from 4,200 trains per week to just 500 trains per week. A 88% decrease in service.
Caltrain will only run 1 train per hour and cut weekend service.
Muni could cut almost 50% of Muni service, reduce fare discounts, and shrink the streets division
AC Transit will implement 37% in service cuts.
The Bay Area is at risk of massive transit service cuts if we don't pass a 2026 regional funding measure.
It cannot be overstated how disastrous cuts would be for our entire region.
Please read this thread for actions you can take to save Bay Area public transit. And share to spread the word! ๐งตโฌ๏ธ
MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit โ rail, subway, rapid bus.
Itโs a huge step for housing in California. Itโll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.
Thank you, Governor!
The bills to renew the Cap & Trade program just passed, including:
* $200 million in continuous funding for transit service.
* $400 m in continuous funding for transit & rail capital
* $800 m for affordable housing near transit
* $125 m for transit passes
* ongoing funding for high speed rail
Our bill to cap insulin co-pays at $35/month has passed the Legislature & now heads to the Governor. People should never have to choose between insulin & food. SB 40 will help.
Emergency Rally: Advocates Demand Gov. Newsom โFund Transit Nowโ - sf.streetsblog.org/2025/09/08/e...
19.5 hours left til tomorrow's big Emergency Rally To Save Bay Area Transit. People are texting friends, passing out flyers, posting on their socials, and making calls to help get the message out.
We've got a few hours left -- how will you help spread the word?

Weโve been informed by the Governorโs Department of Finance that it wonโt agree before our legislative session ends (on Friday) to finalize a $750M bridge loan to Bay Area transit.
This loan was agreed to in our June budget. Without it, BART, Muni, et al will cut service.๐งต
This article gets some very basic facts wrong about high-speed rail. $110 B is the cost for the entire 494 mile SF-LA project, which includes over 20 miles of tunnels - not just the Central Valley Section, which is estimated to cost around $30 B. Vox overstates the cost by more than 3x.
We WON! Huge collective victory thanks to the tens of thousands of people & 120+ coalition partners who spoke out, rallied, dropped banners, and everything else to make this happen. Big ups to Sen. Wiener & Arreguin & Asm. Gonzalez for leading the charge in Sacramento.
California state legislators approved a budget proposal that protects transit from Governor Newsom's proposed immediate cuts. Thank you, Senators Scott Wiener, and Jesse Arreguin, Assembly Member Mark Gonzalez! @scottwiener.bsky.social @jessearreguin.bsky.social @asmmarkgonzalez.bsky.social
Confused about California High Speed Rail? Check out our video to learn the real reasons for it's slow pace, the incredible progress that's been made on construction and to fix management, and its critical importance as an infrastructure project for the entire state. www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVq6...
SPUR is leading a coalition that is calling on the state of California to fund public transit in this year's budget.
California deserves safe, fast, and reliable public transit.

SB 71 exempts rail projects using zero-emission trains from CEQA, so CAHSR might benefit from it. For other permitting fixes, SB 445 would speed up projects like CAHSR. Also, last years AB 2503 streamlines zero-emission rail in existing ROW.
Our legislation to cap insulin co-pays at $35/month (SB 40) just passed the Senate Health Committee. People should never have to ration insulin. We need to make sure people can afford it.
Thank you to our American Diabetes Association team for your advocacy to help us advance this critical bill!
NEW: The CDC has been gutted this morning. Thousands of CDC employees who worked on things like preventing HIV and lead poisoning have been told they were subject to a reduction in force. Experts say people will die.
from me, @makenakelly.bsky.social, @knibbs.bsky.social:
Weโre announcing new legislation (SB 63) to provide long-term stable funding to Bay Area transit systems, authorizing a multi-county revenue measure for 2026.
If we do nothing, major systems (BART, Muni, AC Transit, Caltrain) will be forced into massive service cuts.
We must not let that happen.๐งต
Keep Transit Running! As California sets the state budget, a small set-aside to support transit will save bus and train service from major cuts. Write your legislator:

This will be an ongoing effort, sign up to stay involved at

CAHSR has enough money to make it to 2027ish without more funding btw.
Also the federal government cannot stop a state run organization, we saw that today with MTA just saying "No"
