Watch the video, no imagination needed. And neither of us should pretend that we need more reasons to go back...

Silver Ball Planet Osaka Walkthrough [Video] - Alex Reviews Tech When in Osaka, I have a little ritual. But it's nothing to do with Ramen, or the Glico sign, or any of the other obvious tourist hotspots. Instead, it's do to with the movement of little silver balls.

Time for a little relaxation in Osaka. But I do it a little differently to most visitors. Not by way of Osaka Castle or Dotonbori, but instead the movement of little silver balls in a lesser-visited location.

I am legitimately upset I won't be able to be there, but will spread the word as much as possible.

Photo of Gary Stark: A white man, bald on top with a huge white beard and much white hair at the side and the back of his head. He’s looking into the camera, with a smile, and smiling eyes. He is not Karl Marx.

Veteran Australian tech journalist and broadcaster Gary Stark passed away on Sunday aged 73 after a long decline in his health. @leighlo.bsky.social has put together a beautiful memorial at dad.leighlo.com.

The funeral is tomorrow, Thursday, at Rockwood. Leigh or I have the details, by DM I guess.

Gravastar Mercury V60 Pro Review – Pickr A basic $20 keyboard can let you type, but the $399 Gravastar Mercury V60 Pro is a premium keyboard for a premium buyer.

It looks like it fell out of HR Giger's nightmares - but is this not-inexpensive gaming keyboard worth it? Over at Pickr I've put the GravaStar Mercury V60 Pro to the test to find out! #gaming #keyboard

Today in Centrelink stupidity: The use of a voice print on a disability pension line. Good job nobody with a disability ever has vocal issues, right?
Also, waiting on a call for >1hr, getting through, being put on hold and then having them HANG UP. FFS.
If anyone needs me, I’ll be sharpening an axe

Bit early on a Monday... ah, why not? What's the worst that could happen?

Also best not to eat your fingers (or anyone else's), I find. I mean, sure, it's tempting, but there are some real downsides that will only grab you afterwards. Or, indeed, never again.

Sigh. Sydney commuters, if there's half a dozen cops and EMTs carrying out a person (not sure why, they weren't moving though which ain't good...) from a train station then maybe, just maybe GETTING OUT OF THE WAY would be a good idea?

On my way to the IT Journo awards, AKA the #Lizzies. Looking forward to catching up with people, as well as applauding the winners. No prizes for me this year - I opted to judge rather than enter.

How to buy an EV (practical advice from an EV owner) – Pickr If fuel prices have you considering an EV, what do you really need to consider? After years of EV ownership, Alex Kidman dives in with advice for anyone eyeing the move from gas guzzlers to something ...

There’s been a surge in interest in EVs thanks to rapidly spiralling fuel prices in Australia. I’ve put together my thoughts for new buyers after many years of only driving EVs (plus, sigh, debunking that whole stupid “EV Fires” argument...)

Law Matters: Be Careful What You Offer! | The Saturday Evening Post You might be subjecting yourself to breach of contract, even if you thought you were making a joke.

The Toy Yoda approach has been tried before, so there's legal precedent that might restrict Mark from wanting to go down that path. www.saturdayeveningpost.com/2018/04/law-...

Solution: Buy him one that has already incinerated itself. You never said "working" e-scooter, just e-scooter. It'll be cheaper and less risky for you and for him. Everybody wins!

My ISP sold its cheaper business to another ISP. Switch happened overnight, my broadband speeds plummeted.
Thankfully, the oldest hack in the book has worked to get my speeds back. Turned off the NBN NTD and router for 10s, turned back on.
Sometimes, the old ways really are the best.

Let’s build a Fake LEGO Apple Mac!
Let’s build a Fake LEGO Apple Mac! YouTube video by Alex Kidman

Apple doesn’t really like it when people build their own Macs. But it was Friday arvo, I wanted a lunchtime activity… so I built one anyway…. of a sort. Doesn’t seem to run very fast, and the screen resolution is a tad ordinary.

Kobo Libra Colour Review: A Great E-Reader (But Do You Need Colour, Really?) - Alex Reviews Tech The Kobo Libra Colour is a great, responsive e-reader with colour support, though I’m still not 100% convinced I need colour specifically.

It's got its limitations; this is the best that I've been able to test (and I like it a lot for most reading), but a faster LCD screen and faster processor on a tablet will arguably beat it every time.

Just wrote the words “WOOP BEEP FLARP GURGLE NEEP” into a sentence.

I think there’s something in there for all of us to ponder on.

MacBook Air M5 vs MacBook Air M2: Is it worth upgrading? - Alex Reviews Tech Apple’s shiny new MacBook Air M5 is a fine machine in its own right, but should I replace my existing MacBook Air M2 with it?

Time to pick a fight, methinks. Apple MacBook Air M5 vs Apple MacBook Air M2 (with a light side dose of MacBook Neo).

Unfair fight, you say? Maybe not quite as much as you might think.
