I’ve only watched the tv show and i cannot tell from moment to moment whether someone is going to shrug off a punch or the fist will explode their skull.

Have you watched any Invincible? Easily the wildest of wildly oscillating powers.
2018 tweet of Eric Swalwell criticizing defenders of Brett Kavanaugh for ignoring the substance of accusations against him and casting doubt on the timing.
Glad to see that Eric Swalwell dropped out. Wish more of the folks defending him on the basis of suspicious timing had listened to… Eric Swalwell.
I think she’d get a little more leeway if she didn’t believe in literally every conspiracy theory. Even this tweet had me thinking ‘she doesn’t believe space travel is real, she just isn’t ready to say it’.
Every sentence Naomi Wolf writes from now on should begin with “call me ill-informed…”, just to play it safe.
A mini-rant against mindset coaches:
All this framing does is reveal the hustle bro mindset. He’s provided only 2 options & already rendered a judgement against people who choose the latter. This isn’t some grand insight into how people respond, it’s a heuristic for INTERPRETING how people respond.
This might actually be my biggest ratio yet! (I can’t take all the credit - it was an exceptionally bad post and basically every commenter got more likes than the original.)
85cm of snow later…
I seem to have moved directly from a cold to spring thaw allergies and I think my body is now 70% phlegm.
[SCENE: watching this week’s Survivor with my wife]
Her: I’d just like to let you know that if you shit your pants on Survivor, I wouldn’t divorce you.
Me: …
Her: In fact, you can shit your pants on *any* gameshow.
If you cast a gameshow? Please take note.
It’s wild that the enduring memory of these two hockey teams is probably going to be how the men’s team laughed at a misogynistic joke made at the expense of the women’s team.
A screenshot of several tweets repeating misogynistic Manosphere talking points and slamming feminism.

However… then they shared the link on Twitter. 17 comments, none of whom appear to have actually watched it, and they’re all negative. Just in case you were wondering how things were going over there.
I was interviewed on CTV Edmonton’s morning show today. It went pretty well! You can watch it below:
One of the things no one tells you about running an influencer side-gig is that at least 1 morning every week is eaten up reading & writing emails, entering data into spreadsheets, completing & submitting invoices, and also reading, signing, & submitting contracts. Because paperwork is inescapable.

So you bemoan the lack of men’s voice in our contemporary literature - while also failing to mention that men don’t buy or read books, and they could be a factor? And complain that ‘Canadian’ culture - by which you obviously mean ‘white, male, settler’ - is being lost?
Just fuck right off.

And I realize that we can’t choose the exact moment that a book, which was presumably in the works for years, will be released…
But this is when you choose to vilify DEI? When white supremacy and white nationalism is gaining traction everywhere? When violent xenophobia is increasingly normal?

Or that books about Canada will not be funded or published if they lack a certain number of POC. (When I edited a book about Canadian culture, the only note we were given from the publisher was that we must have a chapter on hockey.)

Also? I spotted multiple factual errors in the column (actually a book excerpt) on my first read. And not just small things. Like claims that a white journalist, Wendy Mesley, was fired for simply reading a book title. (Someone who was present on the call reported that she said the n-word.)

An old white man complains, in a column published in the country’s second-largest national newspaper, that no one will publish or listen to old white men in Canada anymore. His book on the topic is being released in two days. Irony is dead.

I allow the conversation about ‘common sense’ in my communication classes to come up organically (it always does) because it’s the best way to look at how its appearance conceals a bias. Sometimes it’s not conscious? But just as often it’s actively weaponized to reframe bias as undeniable truth.
It took 360 days but we found it, the video of the year:
TikTok’s moderation makes zero sense. I posted sponsored content. Clicked the box to indicate as much. Tagged the brand as sponsor. And it was removed for violating sponsored content rules IMMEDIATELY. I also can’t appeal - I’m given the option but the submit button simply… doesn’t work. Ffs
Got a diagnosis of a type IV allergic reaction, which prompted a joke about how I ‘look like [i’ve] been poisoned’. The cause is still a mystery, though, because it wasn’t poison ivy. So that’s fun.
Fun fact: I turn 44 later this month! 🙃
This FAQ for baseball player Jhostynxon García somehow doesn’t include what I imagine is the *most* frequently asked question about him:
