I feel like this might also plug into some of the popular veneration of the Bund. it often gets flattened into a narrative about secular Jews (good!) vs. Zionist Jews (religious, ewww) despite complications like the Bund being anti-assimilation, or Herzl hanging Christmas trees

THANK YOU I AM DOING MY BEST 😭
so given the disingenuous nature of Pride Worcester’s apology i decided to reach out to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette about it. They called me yesterday for an interview, talked to a couple Rabbis, and this article is the result:

This is basically how every conversation on every topic goes nowadays. “Yeah, sure, republicans *want* to destroy this thing but they won’t end up doing it so it’ll be fine BUT what about when the Dems did (something untrue I have a vague recollection of through a game of internet telephone)?”
holy shit
You know how "may their memory be a blessing" is a traditional Jewish phrase of condolence? "May their name and memory be erased" is the also-traditional equal and opposite sentiment.
i hear what you're trying to say but the trouble with going "imagine if this happened to a different minority that this doesn't happen to" is that usually it is in fact happening to them too
This is why Geoff Johns’ proposal that Green Lantern is a color and a feeling that fights other colors and feelings has been the most successful take on the character to date
Every superhero is a metaphor that fights other metaphors of the same clade
The Flash is a physics, who fights other physics (mirrors, aerodynamics, cold). Superman is a god, who fights other gods. That’s so good, but Batman is a fear who fights other fears. That’s always the easiest match to sell.
in 2003 when i was 9 years old i found a copy of The Stand on my mom’s bookshelf and my first reaction was “omg i need to convince my mom to read this to me seeing as it is clearly about the coolest jedi to ever live, Kit Fisto”

The Fall Is All There Is
For Indie April, I’m sharing a few of my favorite indie reads. Next up: The Fall Is All There Is by @cmcaplanwrites.bsky.social
This book is wild, violent, deeply inventive, and exploding with vibrant characters. One of my all time favorites.
The cease fire in Lebanon is testament to the power relations between Netanyahu and Trump. While Netanyahu has persuasive power, it is ultimately Trump who decides and can dictate Israeli policy. Netanyahu has no leverage on him, and in fact badly needs him to convey a sense of diplomatic relevance.
"In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."
“Can’t we just idk grab a pastor to acknowledge what day it is? what does a pastor have going on on December 25th that’s so important?? why are you getting so upset?? I’m being inclusive!!”
if you’re not Jewish try to imagine someone wanting to host a big inclusive queer event that as many people can show up to and support as possible, and then you schedule it for December 25th and when called out go “Whaaat we always do Saturdays!! Why can’t you be flexible about this??”
i expected an actual apology and not some “we’re sorry if you FEEL excluded” shit but if that’s not bad enough they’re also BRAGGING about reaching out to our community leaders *and then ignored their advice*!! They’re pointing to it as evidence of their compassion and commitment to inclusion!
