And the woman did speak unto the hound, saying, What do you mean, normal men, and the hound answered the woman, saying, We are just innocent men. And great was her emotion
The fat cat on the mat may seem to dream of nice mice that suffice for him, or cream; but he free, maybe, walks in thought unbowed, proud, where loud roared and fought his kin, lean and slim, or deep in den in the East feasted on beasts and tender men. The giant lion with iron claw in paw, and huge ruthless tooth in gory jaw; the pard, dark-starred, fleet upon feet, that oft soft from aloft leaps on his meat where woods loom in gloom-- far now they be, fierce and free, and tamed is he; but fat cat on the mat kept as a pet, he does not forget. Cat, by J.R.R. Tolkien from The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (1962)
"Cat" is a poem J.R.R. Tolkien first wrote in 1956 for his granddaughter. However, in his Legendarium, the poem was written by Samwise Gamgee, demonstrating Hobbits' love toward comic bestiary lore: a cat that imagined itself as a ferocious beast in its dream. 1/2

sepia watercolour portrait of a unicorn
forest scene in moonlight, one unicorn drinks from a dark pool beneath ancient trees while the other looks out for danger in the clearing behind.
A peaceful scene of a swamp, with greens, blues and purples, a tree in the foreground and the head of a huge dragon visible resting in the water. A white heron takes off next to the dragon and it's eye is open.
a huge black winged dragon flies out of a thundercloud surrounded with lightning, chasing a smaller red dragon over mountain peaks

After living through the Nazi & atomic bomb eras, Tove Jansson writings would often encompass fearful ideas about loss of a familiar world. However she would balance this with characters who displayed kindness & community, showing goodness even in the darkest times

There's a great doc on iPlayer about the Voyager missions, should you wish to remind yourself that space exploration need not be about who has the biggest kno... 'cough' ego.
Paul is a lovely chap!
Today marks 7 years since my kidney transplant. My donor, the stupendous Mat Thorpe, isn't on BS, so here's an example of how he did it through the shared donor scheme: www.theguardian.com/society/2018...
Indeed, but these are period pastiches. I don't believe there IS a novelisation of 'Small Prophets', Sean has made these for fun, just beautifully aware. His Etsy page is worth looking at. :)
Superbly done!
Absolutely. I mentioned Plant because I was watching him pick favourite albums on a YT vid, so just decided to read his bio. When I saw he was 77 my response was 'is that all'! I'd imagined him to be in his 80s. The young-me would have thought that unbelievably ancient!
Robert Plant is 77. He was 18/19 when Zep started. When the band broke up he was still a young man. As the years pass my attitude to age has adjusted quite considerably.
Thank you!
A three panel comic strip featuring Aleister Crowley and H P Lovecraft discussing their personal worldviews (maybe) and the importance of MAN whilst in the background the 'maid' (Rosie Poe) dusts and cleans. They finally notice her only to demand "more wine". She smiles and raises a bottle of poison...
Olden art from the spaces in-between. Drawn for an event in Portland many moons passed. My character Rosie Poe meets Mr Crowley and Mr Lovecraft. A clash of world views, maybe. I don't think it was ever very funny, but I quite liked it. Lettered by Nate Piekos, the one and only Blambot.
"How does one hate a country, or love one?"
Ursula Le Guin always out there expressing my exact feelings in trying times.

I think an Austin 7 in the road and a Ford of some kind close to camera, possibly a V8. (ahem...)
[men and women] - not seeing any men here… Oh hold on, NOW I get it!
Well they can't throttle everything, I mean how else are the AI algorithms going to find more work to steal.
Twin Peaks ident with the word 'Toblerone' in place of the title. This is an obscure 'joke' and probably of vague amusement to about three people on this particular spiral arm of the galaxy.
Very niche. Very very so...
Did a new Blu-ray cover… whysoblu.com/cecile-is-de...
Hope you had a fab time Pau!
