Word!! I am equally mad at the lack of funding for the flu mRNA vax tbh, the recent flu seasons have been awful (nearly killed one of our attendings w asthma despite mandated vaccination) and that vaccine has such promise

That said, I still wear masks at big events like conferences to protect myself and my transplant patients (mostly bc I hate getting sick), and always mask for all patient encounters, but am far less stringent on a day to day basis because personal risk tolerance is a thing that is ok to calculate.

And yes, the obsessive cherry-picking of bad studies to “prove” that COVID is the new AIDS or w/e has equally no evidence basis.

TBH my bigger concern rn is for flu and RSV, and to a lesser extent paraflu, esp in my lung transplant patients. They tend to shake off the current COVID strains.

Guh. ALL of this. The way people treat current COVID as if it is just as bad as the era that had my path bestie learning how to stack bodies in refrigerator trucks is just as insulting and minimizing, imo, as the folks who claim it was all fake. So many things can be true at once!

VOLITION - No. Not a disaster. Weave this into the story of you. Walk out of its *ruins*. Save those who still can be saved -- *I'm* on your side.

This is horrific. My F30 wasn’t absolutely necessary per se for me or my PI, but it was quite important for my residency/fellowship applications, and even more importantly imo, provided the motivation and inspiration to keep going

It’s not a perfect study at all (there are a bunch of confounders) but I am thrilled to share a paper whose conclusion literally seems to be “thick thighs save lives” pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...

one of the things that made me happy about my Boston trip was realizing that there are folks who are still happy to see me after I disappeared for a good 4+ years due to training 💖 appreciate yall

I’m kind of burned out from spending multiple days in a row trying to understand immunology (not an immunologist by grad school training) but I just looked at the ISHLT symposia and got really newly excited to learn things yay
