At 6 a.m., more than 300 building service, dining service, grounds workers at Illinois State University walked off the job. They’re striking for dignity, respect and a wage they can actually live on—and they’re prepared to stand strong for as long as it takes.
Caring for people with disabilities isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. Direct support professionals (DSPs) answer that call with care and compassion. But chronically low wages mean they struggle to provide for their families.
Our April 2026 membership meeting is fast approaching! Our quarterly stewards meeting will also be held immediately after the membership meeting next week April 8th, 2026. The membership meeting will begin at 5:45pm. 615 S 5th Street & Zoom
