By the way, anything Thomas-related will definitely be gold for someone if you upload it. Thomas the Tank Engine fans on YouTube are mad, borderline obsessive.

That's uncanny - you've basically described exactly how I operate, too. The main difference being that the number of tapes I've done at this point has reached several hundred, insanely. I've got a backlog at the moment of literally terabytes!
50 tapes? There'll almost definitely be something. Loads of times I've uploaded what I thought was a fairly bog-standard clip to YouTube, only for someone to come along and point out that it contains a really rare ident or an ad that everyone's been looking for or a before-they-were-famous celeb.
So true - that, and the bits you sometimes find right at the end of a tape that show loads of older things that have successively been recorded over.
Nice! So often it's the other way around - the label says something far better than what's actually on the tape. Usually it was my dad recording over one of mine with an episode of Inspector Morse or something else they're still showing, and somehow *that's* what's survived all these years...
I never imagined that, in 2026, there'd still be times when I'd find myself thinking 'Please be a four-hour tape... Please be a four-hour tape...', only to be devastated when it turns out to be an E-180.
Yeah, my thoughts entirely - I was getting all excited over what they were going to show, and then the tape itself reached its end right there...
Unfortunately that's where this recording cut out.
A full episode of You Bet! from October 1993, featuring panellists Ted Robbins, Andrew Sachs, Bryan Murray, and Paul Ross. Where else will you see a skier racing a horse and cart in Norway or a bloke riding a bike on a giant snooker table trying to score 120 with a polo mallet? youtu.be/qbkXH6boPE4
Two full ad breaks from (we think) the ATV region on 1st August 1981, during Seagull Island. Products on offer include Dairy Milk, Carling Black Label, and Anadin, which together probably make for the perfect weekend for some. Nice brief Raiders of the Lost Ark trailer, too. youtu.be/tsdLukk0R-s
Here's a rarity: you remember those surreal home-made zero-budget shorts that some children's channels used to throw in between shows? Well, this is an edition of 2002's Adventures of Brush Lee and Jackie Chain from Fox Kids, in which our hero takes on the Deadly Satsumas. youtu.be/ICNVJzVwwWc
Seven minutes of promos, idents, and ads from the UK's Cartoon Network, I think recorded in January 2002. Features a very nice Dexter's Laboratory bumper, and the Powerpuff Girls popping up not necessarily when you'd expect. youtu.be/gW6MboAkZQc
Five YouTube uploads from me for your weekend viewing, with the first being an ITV News Summary read by Karen Roberts from 30th September 2001. Obviously still the aftermath of 9/11, and the top story is Sunday Express journalist Yvonne Ridley being held by the Taliban. youtu.be/tAl9cHyZvA0
Yeah, they tried to keep some sort of brand identity going with Undun in 1996, but it was just a slow death from there after Fox Kids launched. Pity.
To be clear, I would 100% watch a Border TV regional Saturday morning kids' TV show without a moment's hesitation.
Some clips from SM:tv Live 26 years ago yesterday, including special guest Gaby Roslin dropping by and joining in the Pokemon fun, young viewer Rory trying to win a PlayStation and the top ten games in Challenge Ant, plus a whole heap of ad breaks and stuff. youtu.be/TNrdXqtNVMY
Time to brush up on your GCSE French in this 1996 episode of BBC Schools show Clementine, in which it turns out our eponymous star plays bass in a band and is also having piano lessons along with her little brother. youtu.be/gGzMqzBfXWQ
A collections of promos and idents from Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, mostly around episodes of As Told by Ginger. Not 100% certain of the year - I thought 2002, then I was told 2003, but if anyone can confirm, please do. youtu.be/Cc-mLP8wJ-A
A full ITN Early Evening News from December 1993, along with the weather, an ad break, and the start of London Tonight. Top stories include Vladimir Zhirinovsky doing well in the Russian elections, Alan Clark and the arms-to-Iraq scandal, Israel vs Palestine, Diana, and more. youtu.be/CLYwNpDgUrk
Another five YouTube uploads from me today, and first are these promos and continuity clips from Channel 4 in December 1985. Also features an interesting introduction to the next film by way of an interview with Frank Launder and Sidney Gilliat. youtu.be/OxveMPRlWj0
All the links from an episode of KTV (the weekend spin-off of The DJ Kat Show) from May 1995, featuring the play David Kipperfield, the soap General Accident, pieces on hairdressing and Morris dancing, competitions, and more. Very likely no longer in the archives. #lostmedia youtu.be/RU12DbSGLHc
Clips from GMTV and into that morning's CITV with Danielle Nicholls and Stephen Mulhern from around October 1998. Promos include those for BeetleBorgs, Beast Wars, Mad for It, Captain Pugwash, and a Sooty documentary, while ads for Honey Rice Krispies and Dairylea caught my eye. youtu.be/pQukiOk5QQY
Two weather forecasts from the Carlton region around 2000 - one presented by John Hammond, and the other by Clare Nasir. youtu.be/gyeaJGV7540
Geraldine Peers reads the news for the Oxfordshire region on 27th December 2001, but the star of this one has to be Allen Sinclair channelling Michael Buerk in his report from a refugee camp in Afghanistan. Not what you expect in a local bulletin. youtu.be/2MjkDh0FddQ
Five YouTube uploads from me today, and the first is an ad break from the Tyne Tees region back in November 1985. Also features a slightly surprising promo for a show called Race Against Prime Time. youtu.be/38_LgZrhhPk
I'm persisting with these episodes of Bug Alert (even though they barely get any views) because I find them hilarious. Francis Wright, Rebecca Nagan, and Joe Greco make for the perfect line-up of stars. In this one, Buggins's brother comes to visit and Grub Bug hatches a plan. youtu.be/iRV47EFw7Aw
The third episode of BBC Schools French-language educational programme Clementine from 1996, in which our star faces a crisis of conscience when the teacher appears to leave the answers to tomorrow's exam lying around. youtu.be/D0bFw7xtkyE
Weekly YouTube upload time, and my first is 15 minutes of Fox Kids clips, idents, promos, and ads from late 2002. Shows referenced include Power Rangers, Digimon, Totally Spies, Hamtaro, Medabots, Shin Chan, Jackie Chan Adventures, and more. youtu.be/qWx0cD-zwe4
Everyone loves Rainbow, and in this 1983 episode Geoffrey demonstrates the old-fashioned toys he used to play with when he was young to George, Zippy, and Bungle, all before going to a toy museum and then inviting Rod, Jane and Freddy to visit their own makeshift one. youtu.be/plrRvQrR_o8
A brief clip of CITV from the autumn of 1998, featuring Danielle Nicholls and Stephen Mulhern talking about and dressing the part for the Men in Black animated series. youtu.be/1BVrwbnmqyI
