Coach Scheyer after a 100-42 win against Niagara: we played to our standard, don’t hunt shots when we were up big. I asked some of the guys in the locker room how they maintain their edge in such a lopsided game and they said variations of that’s how they practice, that’s Duke basketball.

Scheyer: there’s not that many 7’2” guys in the world, period, but definitely not ones that can move like Khaman can.
Scheyer: I don’t see how you could watch Cooler today and not appreciate him. And he’s not about numbers. That makes him even better.
Scheyer: Cooper had an all time special performance. It was his timing of key plays. He just willed us. His competitiveness and timing of key plays is what helped us the most.
An emphatic 42 points, and Duke needed them!
Scheyer: Maliq is a winner. He just makes timely plays. Guys love playing with him and you can see why.
Scheyer: Duke basketball is built on toughness and competitiveness. Even in the losses, I could tell we have a special group.
Scheyer: Isaiah had amazing spirit. He attacked what he needed to get better at. I am really proud of him.

Isaiah Evans has been working on his defense, his rebounding, his rotations. He attacks every single day. He had amazing courage to come into this game and do what he did. A special performance when we needed him.
Coach Scheyer: for me, that was a heck of a two hours, or whatever it was! Our guys were tough as can be, I think we’ve learned from the other games.
Isaiah Evans in the locker room says it wasn’t like the hoop was bigger as he started his run, but more like the flick of the wrist felt so good. After hitting a few easy ones, the hard ones became easy too.
