anyway i hate over criticizing female characters or simply ignoring them for the sake of ships or male characters, even though my favorite character is peeta i will never ignore or criticize katniss in favor of him no sir

that one day the hunger games will be stopped, and as covey member her influence just like Lucy Gray’s is felt in Katniss’s own story. She is not just someone for Haymitch to mourn and then forget, she shaped him into who he is by being in his life and later by being gone, he will forever carry

Lenore Dove is extremely important as both covey and Haymitch’s first love and biggest influence, she should be reduced to just his school girlfriend who died, its not just some sad little backstory, she is an independent character, her message is the one thing that keeps him going, his promise

however i’ve noticed people ignore or downplay lenore dove’s importance

not surprising but still a bit disappointing to see the poc rebel girl get ignored in favor of the rich, white girl

i am not saying haymitch can’t find love again, and people have been shipping hayffie for years but..

who actually read like a teenager, very smart and mature, but still a teenager is important not just for the context of the story but for the social landscape we live in. She is a great example for young girls,

and btw while i’m at it I am not personally a hayffie shipper but i appreciate it

like they even say it in the book, haymitch didn’t work out as the mockingjay.
i will not accept katniss criticism because she is a fantastic character and in a world where it seems like female characters often get reduced to stereotypes (even by female authors 💀) complex female character like her..

mostly felt like ranting to myself but i can’t believe i’ve see. multiple people say haymitch is a better protagonist than katniss💀💀
like his story was heartbreaking and his character is so amazing but i cannot people disregarding that these books exist because of katniss
