Goodbye, old Kindle. Bought in 2013, first generation paperwhite, my faithful reading companion since. Only piece of tech I’ve had that’s lasted near that long. Amazon sent an email saying I’ll no longer be able to download books to it. 🥺 New one on the way. It’s been grand, pw. #books #ereaders

For me, there’s no better writing moment than the “aha” moment, when some plot point, some motivation, a way to complete an arc, suddenly pops to mind. I can get high on that for a good long while. #writinglife #fantasybooks
I played a lot of golf when I was younger. I do a lot of archery now. I really don’t know which is more aggravating, and at the same time perfectly zenlike. I’m leaning archery. Besides, when the zombie swarm comes…I’ll be ready…. 😉
Hadn’t planned on writing a synopsis for Extravagant Magic; last time I tried trad, no one wanted one. This time, the first agent I’m looking at does. Sigh. Half way done, feels dry, as always. One of those jobs that feels like I need 6 cups of coffee and a boot in the a$$ to get started. 🫠
If they buy the rest of the series, I’m quite pleased to have them aboard. 😂
I’m thinking the army of bots is most likely, as I wasn’t able to find any mentions of it anywhere — not that a quick search means it didn’t happen, but then I wonder also why a bunch of bots would have a go. Going to remain a mystery.
No, can’t find a thing. And nothing today. So odd.
So weird…not doing any promos right now. This book, Rogue God, is free, the first in the series. It dribbles along at one or two downloads a day. And today, by noon, 240 copies. This happened once before, and I don’t know why. Nothing on any other platforms. But thank you, download gods. #fantasy

To paraphrase another saying, I’ll have an uncluttered mind when I’m dead. 😉
Ucluelet on the outer coast of Vancouver Island is a beautiful place to visit. But thanks goodness we brought our rain gear. Having a nice afternoon now chilling by the fire, watching it pour.
I do love Nathan Pyle’s sense of humor. And if you’re a lover of words….
Got tired of the grey tufts. What do you think?
This was a whole lot of fun. Ruckus Baroque, a concert put on by Vancouver Early Music Society. A combo of English Country Dances by Sancho, and Handel, all played with huge verve, and a deep joy. Described as the rock band of early music, and, yes…. #earlymusic #vancouver
Sometimes you look back on old pictures, and they really do bring memories of times and places that were, still are, amazing. This is our daughters, walking ahead of us on Mackenzie Beach in Tofino, British Columbia. Love this place, especially in winter when it's quiet and cool.
Nothing quite like carefully measuring where the new shelf is going on your freshly painted wall, drilling a support hole, and then realizing that you didn’t measure quite carefully enough. 🤬
In case you’ve never heard of Hildegard Von Blingen, and you like fantasy/medieval music, or just love a lovely voice…this is pretty darn fine. youtu.be/EGkV6JttDFs
If you’re a fantasy writer, and every wondered how folks with modern technology might extract iron from ore, this was fascinating. Unfortunately, only in Chinese for English only speakers, but it’s pretty cool. youtu.be/7l3nQO92p_Y #fantasy
Looking for a little epic fantasy, not spicy, with a touch of romance and humor? #fantasybooks #freebooks
We went to the Vancouver Opera last night, a performance of Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. It was fun, and funny. We go to a lot of classical concerts, mostly early music, but this was my first opera. Still processing, not sure about going to another, but glad we did. #opera #mozart
💯 I’m in that spot with my latest manuscript. It’s that realization that I haven’t created a turd, and all it needs is some polish.
At the Queen Elizabeth theatre in Vancouver. And, yes, Henri. #creativelife
Had some fun and recorded Strange Game, the title song to Slough Horses, the Apple TV series that Mick Jagger wrote and performed. Me on bg vocals, guitars and bass, Tony Horlor on lead vocal and drums, Terry Lawson on fiddle.

A minstrel whose music is corrupted by heretical magic. A tavern full of people who just wanted an ale, dinner, and a little music... #fantasybooks
Looking for some fantasy to read? Well, have I got a deal for you…. #fantasybooks #fantasyseries #freebooks
We’ve gone totally minimalist with window coverings. What do you think? Price was excellent.
