I'm searching for a metaphor that implies difficult but ultimately rewarding work made easier through cooperation. Mountain climbing? Beekeeping? Mountain beekeeping? This is why we need readers like K.A.!
Welcome!
This is gonna be good.

Image shows a bar graph of how many submissions have been sent to Haven Spec Magazine between February 1st, 2025, and today, April 8th, 2025. Most submissions up to March 8th have been processed through the first round (either a hold or a rejection). About a third of the submissions in February have been processed, and almost none in April. In February, we averaged roughly 25 per day, and in March we averaged roughly 8 per day. April saw over 80 submissions on the first day of the general submission window (April 1st).
We've gotten 1350 fiction submissions and 160 poetry submissions (each containing 1-5 poems) since we reopened in February!
This month, we're going to do the hard work of deciding on our holds, and oh how we wish we could publish more.
