Just completed our 5 day Lonoikamakahiki prayer run around Hawaii Island. Lono is the Hawaiian akua (God/Element) that represents the Nov-Feb wet season here in Hawaii.

Lono is the manifestation of fertility, regeneration, rejuvenation & replenishment of land & kino (body).

Screencap of a PSA from the 90s. There are shoppers in what appears to be a mall. A store named Mervyn's (unsexy name for a store but whatever) is in the background. Text in the screen says "Anyone can shoplift" in block letters.

Māori MPs briefly suspended the Aotearoa parliament’s attempts to reinterpret their founding treaty in the most bad ass use of the Haka I’ve ever seen.

Niawen'kówa! Now I'm trying to find the Indigiskeeters feed and not having much luck 🤔 Is there a link you can share that will let me view it?

I'm mixed Kanienkehá:ka/Irish, been mostly urban-based and working in web/software dev. My Dad was a gifted speaker but never taught it to his kids. Now I'm learning our language in an adult program, reconnecting, and using my tech skills to create Indigenous-focused games, experiences and art.

Dia duit, Clodagh!

It's not Māori, it's Mohawk! The meaning of my name has something to do with the fact that I'm both Mohawk and Irish.

In our language, the word for "sky" is "karonhià:ke". Inside this word is the word for "blue": "oròn:ia". So, when we say sky, the term "blue sky" is kind of implicated in the word itself :)

My Kanienʼkéha name is "Tekaronhià:ke" -- does anyone here know (or want to guess) what it means?
