By 2020s standards, these lands stink.

IMO they were included in OG Strix because an enemy cycle was needed to round out Standard, the SOI Port Town cycle was the only viable unfinished cycle, and they were reticent to start a new cycle ene colors first. Not to be an indelible feature of Strix.

Tangential perhaps, but Cursed Scroll and Mishra’s Factory would like a word.

White took a mauling from Anarchy, but White at the time was grossly overpowered.

I somewhat credit Ice Age for containing mostly sane color hosers after Alpha’s were so oppressive. And the CoPs would get repeated in Tempest and essentially Urza’s Saga so no deduction to IA for that.

Ice Age got WAY too much criticism from Pat and Cedric imo. That set was a shot in the arm for Magic, like Alliances, undeserving of association with FE/CH/HM. If nothing else it deserves its flowers just for introducing cantrips.

PS2 was my first Genesis cartridge. I absolutely loved it...until the last 1/3 or so. Even with the included 100+ page hint book those Dezoris dungeons were unfun hard, especially the ones you traverse via pits.
