That's us, all of us on that little blue crescent, rapidly setting behind the horizon of the Moon. Orion goes behind the moon out of our view.

I'm hearing the old fashioned Quindar tones when mission control transmits to Artemis. They appear to be using analog radio audio through the deep space network dishes like they did for Apollo. Does anyone know if the tones are actually being used to trigger the transmitters at the DSN dishes?
heyy they're using the old sheep-paddock Parkes Observatory dish in Australia to talk to Artemis right now. (of the movie The Dish fame) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkes_...
Someone needs to do a study on earthquake-triggered doom scrolling social media affecting cortisol recovery times.
There was about 10 seconds here before the shaking, it was long enough to wake up and decide that staying in bed was safest. I can imagine what you're saying would be unhelpful. I wonder where the time delay is large enough to be useful
Favorite quote from the Artemis flight so far: "we're going to attempt to power cycle the toilet." re: toilet was found to be broken upon reaching space
Poor Voyager, it's data rate is only 160 bits per second.
Artemis 2 is on the Deep Space Network! You can see which dishes, what radio band, the signal strength, azimuth/elevation of the dish, transmitter power, and the range!
norminal!
I've been amazed at how much easier and faster things are when it's daylight bright. Like it just lowers the background stress level a notch when you're more sure of what details your eyes are reporting.
After years of all kinds of work- lumens, lumens, lumens.
Fascinating, I just passed another just-broken-off hydrant on the street in Piedmont

Interesting!
Two scientists at DLR in Germany, in mint coveralls and blue-green shiny goggles touch a laser optical mirror on a table. One scientist looks through what appears to be a 1975 home movie camera.
