The VAWG Curriculum: Day 6
We need male allies to end violence against women because gender-based violence isn’t just a 'women’s issue'; it’s a societal issue rooted in gender inequality, and men play a critical role both in its causes and in its solutions.
LOVED attending @publichealthon.bsky.social’s webinar by @yorkuniversity.bsky.social’s Dr. Karen Campbell on the iHeal App — Digital Support in Intimate Partner Violence Care. A brilliant, engaging presentation on a truly groundbreaking, multi-province initiative (also involving @westernu.ca!)
Loved having the opportunity to present some of my in-progress #PhD work at the Nursing Network on Violence Against Women International (NNVAWI) Conference. In my work, I explore the experiences of mothers with histories of #IPV navigating service systems with the aim of informing policy/practice.
Matthew McConaughey says he wants a private LLM, fed only with his books, notes, journals, and aspirations, so he can ask it questions and get answers based solely on that information, without any outside influence.
this exists it is called thinking
In my latest @us.theconversation.com article, I examine Bill C-21’s provisions on intimate partner violence. Firearm reform is necessary - but without trauma- and violence-informed support & systemic change, it’s just a bandage on a deeper wound ⚖️

The best educational experiences I've had weren't rooted in the teacher's content knowledge but their ability to connect with me as a person and show me I was capable of connecting with the content. We've completely lost the plot when we invest in de-humanizing teaching and learning
Dr. Alissa Centivany at @westernu.ca does great work on this problem/the Right to Repair! informationmatters.org/2025/05/the-...
I’ve joined @whrcluster.bsky.social as an expert reviewer for their blog.
The Women’s Health Research Cluster team does incredible work translating academic research into accessible outputs — I’m excited to get involved! 🥳

I’m excited to share my first blog post for @whrcluster.bsky.social entitled ‘The Impacts of Intimate Partner Violence on Survivors’ Health and Well-Being’. Check it out at the link below.

Currently attending the Council for Criminal Justice’s event Policing Domestic Violence: Past, Present, and Future. I’m so impressed by the incredible panel they’ve pulled together for a discussion on policing DV, the history/intentions behind mandatory charging policies, & what’s working in the US.

Really enjoying (virtually!) attending my first #CAIS (Canadian Association for Information Science) conference and watching some brilliant @westernufims.bsky.social colleagues & faculty present. I’m also incredibly impressed with #CAIS for making virtual conference attendance free and accessible.
It's like they couldn't decide which dystopian novel they liked best, so they decided to do them all.
I had ‘older, wiser, hotter’ on my birthday cake last year! Must be an Aries thing! 😉 Happy birthday!! 🥳🎉
Spectacular view of 100,000 people attending the #HandsOff march in NYC
Any chance there’s a Zoom option? This looks like it’s going to be incredible!
Mandatory arrest laws in domestic violence cases are ineffective, unnecessary, and lead to the arrests of survivors of violence, even in places where police are told to determine who the primary aggressor is. It's long past time to repeal them. calmatters.org/commentary/2...
Now I’m going to be thinking about this all day
Ok but the coffee in the first photo is the PERFECT shade
Oh I can’t wait to listen to this!
