I think it speaks volumes that right wingers criticize bluesky for being “liberal” and “left wing”, when it’s really just that hate speech isn’t allowed.

I used to do semi-regular AMAs on twitter, and even on that hellsite they were pretty enjoyable.

When people claim they are apolitical (or “I don’t do politics)

They usually mean “I don’t identify with the political teams presented”

Which tbf is highly relatable. And arguably good

Life in modern society is inescapably political, but a healthy society is politically nonbinary

My interpretation so far whenever I hear that is people don’t want to engage or critically think about topics which are clearly political while they just want to enjoy themselves and not think about the implications of their actions or what their enjoyment of such things implies.

Just my 2 cents. But my goal is to ignore the trolls. Give them zero attention. Block them if they annoy me.

I think the worst thing we can do on this site is re-create the ad hominem/ personal attacks that occur across comments on Twitter/insta/tiktok/ etc

Americans didn’t want another old president so they elected a 78-year-old.

Americans wanted to end crime so they elected a criminal.

Well, not this old warrior. I’ve seen much worse from the U.S. government in my day. I’m concerned for our country, but not a bit scared of these miscreants. I’m ready to do my part.

With a fully remote team of just 20 employees, Bluesky has surpassed 20 million users in its first year since opening to the public and is stealing thunder from rivals hundreds of times its size.

At a time when conventional wisdom among bosses is that workers must be in-person to be productive.

So how does Bluesky prevent this place from being run over by bots? Curious question, since I have no clue. @bsky.app

Here's a bit of trivia.

Trans people make up 0.6% of the population.
Psychopaths make up 1.2% of the population.

Psychopaths do actual harm to society, but we hardly even talk about them. They're in our businesses, schools, politics, etc. The current administration is full of them!

It is no accident that fascists today walk that same dark path by targeting trans people. /5

A nation is be judged not by on how it exults its bullies and strongmen, but how it treats its most vulnerable. Like Japanese Americans, the trans community never did anything to deserve the kind of hatred and targeting they have received.

We have a moral obligation to stand by them now. /4

Worse still, those who should have stood by us when we became easy scapegoats fled or grew silent. And that led to an environment where the government could put us into camps.

It was the abandonment by our friends that stung the most.

And we can’t let that happen again. Not on our watch. /3

They stoked hatred and prejudice to score political points and show they were “doing something” in response to the attack.

I see the same thing happening today with the trans community. They are politically vulnerable and the subject of attack ads and bullying. It is shameful and wrong. /2

I would like to speak up today for the trans community.

You see, I know a bit of what it’s like to be politically scapegoated. When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941, suddenly anyone in America who had any amount of Japanese ancestry became suspect. Politicians preyed upon ignorance and fear. /1
