Honestly, they are right. There is no point in having a landmarks preservation board if the city is going to just bypass them whenever something comes up that is controversial. The board can review and recommend mitigation alternatives to protect and preserve while ensuring safety. It's pretty basic

What a mean thing to say about Elon and Vivek🤔
LOL. People here lose their shit over roundabouts even without a bike. But I laughed hard the time a person driving a big-ass SUV pulled out to pass me as I approached the roundabout. They wound up heading the wrong way around, facing oncoming traffic head-on, completely blocking traffic. I rode on.
I mean, to clarify, I made it more than halfway thru vol 3 and just totally lost interest. I really didn't care how it ended. But I think vol 1 is an innovative and thought-provoking experiment. Sorta rough going for some reason, but worth the effort.
...it was really one of the few times I have regretted putting myself through the struggle of immersing myself in a series.
It's an interesting concept of a book, but I found the execution uneven. This first volume was actually fairly good, vol 2 was ok,, vol 3, which should have been the triumphant culmination of the series bogged down in petty relationship details and lost the bigger picture. Actually unreadable.
An interesting example of the historian's work. A short read, well worth your time.
I thought the evolving context in Lincoln Park and it's reorientation as a touchstone in the effort to recognize the role of Black women in the fight for emancipation and social justice during the 1970s-1990s particularly interesting. the context is always changing, as its meaning to the audience.
The kneeling figure has ALREADY broken his chains and is rising. The person who initiated the fund to commission the statue was herself a former slave--CharlotteScott.
The historical context of this statue is interesting and not quite that simple. It was entirely funded by former slaves Who ensured design it include representation of self emancipation. The kneeling figure is self-emancipated Archer Alexander. www.historians.org/perspectives...
"Which country in the Middle East has nuclear weapons? It's not Iran, it's Israel... Which country in the Middle East attacked six countries last year? It wasn't Iran, it was Israel."
From my Piers Morgan debate with Israeli spokesman Doron Spielman.

It’s cool how the people who control the US government right now just openly take it as a personal attack when the Pope says something like “God will not reward evil men”
Tonight I voted YES for two arms sales resolutions to block the sale of certain weapons to Israel.
I will not tolerate Netanyahu's reckless disregard for human life and human rights. My full statement:
It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford. It’s about priorities.
From the outside looking in, it seems like there is a door wide open for a determined NDP initiative to forge a red-geen alliance to the left of the center-right, business- nationalism consensus currently dominant in the two leading federal parties. bsky.app/profile/cana...

Interesting that Sharon Simmons, the Door Dasher from Arkansas at the White House, is also Sharon Simmons from Nevada that testified at a GOP Ways and Means field hearing about trumps ‘big beautiful bill’ in Nevada last year.
Sharing this for my friends and colleagues who work as educators in all the various and remarkable venues where education is an active goal, responsibility, and ongoing process.
Too many ways for this space. But after 6 decades of riding, I survived a cardiac arrest brought on by total blockage of my coronary artery. Surgeons credited my biking lifestyle for the auxiliary workaround my heart developed that kept me alive for 10 years before that event revealed the problem.
As is too often the case, the horror is in the details. Creeping, mindless, banal, and hidden behind closed doors. Until you have served in an administrative capacity, you have no idea how common this is--to find yourself in a room of decision makers who don't know or care how much they don't know.
WTAF. Did AI write this speech for him? AI for all? What does that even mean? And in what way can a LLM be accountable? This is mindless babble.
Anti-Zionism is rising as a response to what Israel is doing. It will simply not be possible to treat it as a marginal viewpoint that can be shamed or shunned into invisibility. Yes, antisemitism often cloaks itself in anti-Zionism. So don't do the antisemites' work for them. If you keep telling people that if they oppose the Jewish state then they must hate the Jewish people, eventually, they will believe you.
I don’t often find myself agreeing with Ezra Klein, but this is completely correct — and frankly, shows some guts for a mainstream liberal columnist to say. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/12/o...
So it turns out paying people a living wage doesn’t collapse the economy; it’s almost like the rich have been lying to us to maintain their power over our lives.
“As you can see, it’s been brought to an entire standstill”.
Except for the bike lane… that lady riding past couldn’t have been any better timed. 🤣
In a nutshell: it's wrong, it's illegal, but we won't pursue even the most obvious of consequences for it, namely sanctions.
The people of Lebanon and the Lebanese people of Canada deserve better than this.
Nativist xenophobia is not a good look for anyone, left or right.
