The Endless Dark Custodian Robots meet their struggles head on, in their own ways. One breaks through barriers physically, one tenaciously does its duty, one retreats into its life's work.
After a long, LONG development cycle, 1.2 is ready for beta! Please give us a shot and give us feedback! store.steampowered.com/news/app/229...

What sources would satisfy you, as you've already stated Epic is The Best? What authority would make this productive, not an argument? A noted security expert? A FOSS group? All are possible. None will change an established decision.
Do as you like, but as a developer, we feel EGS is Bad Business.

Among other things: EGS maintains the most invasive and aggressive data gathering and warehousing policies of any major platform (including Origin and Uplay), and continues to be implicated in unethical data sales. GoG and itch won't expose our customers to extra risks for wanting to play our game!

We're delighted to have our game on more than One Platform, but it will never be on Epic until they stop treating our community as commodities. We can overlook the HUGE deficit of dev-friendly tools that EGS lacks, but treating people as commodities is a red line. Good behavior is good business.

Thanks for the shout-out!! Don't hesitate to hit us up if you want to do a stream of it sometime, we're currently hard at work on a massive revamp of the core systems to make them more engaging - we'd be delighted to get you the password to the beta when it goes live!

Tools are great, but here's an #accessibility tip to verify:
Colors are programmed 0-255 in RGB, right? Calculate the deltas between colors. ex: The delta between Red and Blue is 510; (255-0, 0-0, 0-255).
Deltas over ~350 will USUALLY be accessible for all vision types.

Game title: Endless Dark
A robot is holding a wrench and looking outside a window. There is space and a crescent moon. There is also a rainbow feathered wyrm and a wyrm on a string poking in from the bottom and right sides.
The inside of the room is a stark metallic grey, devoid of any interesting features. A single red light is lit on a panel.
The drab colours and position of the robot evoke a sense of longing and emptiness because everywhere else is cast in shadow.
Okay so Robbie has been misplaced. Unrelated, but all personnel are to avoid Hydroponics for the next few cycles. As Annie is still barricaded in the underbelly, we have activated a new Frank for this leg of the voyage!
This is uhh... fine. Very... fine.

Thought experiment here: How many unicorn games are there? There's not a lot, but some sure!
How many unicorn finance companies are there? Zero, despite much larger potential profits. You can't even get a fair price on running cards without a connection/privilege.
Repeat for construction, etc.

If 'having connections' is part of 'privilege' (it is), then yes, success in most businesses is VERY heavily predicated on it. Gamedev is kinda unique in that you can get very profitable without having ivy league-esque privilege.
Both ED founders came from other industries and saw it everywhere.

You read tens of millions of words in books, and write millions of words in random fan stories and other 'ignoble' practice, so you can write a few ten thousand words that touch hearts.
Never be ashamed of your roots. We're not.

The truly horrifying thing I'm seeing here is that there's so many skin tubes inside of so many perfectly normal looking robots.

Well, what do they mean by 'test'? I know, a robot asking for definitions, but...
Unit testing is almost NEVER practiced in games, and it's massively helpful. Even for DMC; does a cutscene forget to re-enable collision? Easy to test with a harness! It caught dozens of bugs for Endless Dark.

You could try mining some of the same historical documents our game used to make a lot of its most absurdist jokes: Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Carl gets a broom shoved up his tailpipe and says his insurance won't do anything because they dropped him. The joke genuinely doesn't work nowadays.

It's been a while since I've done this, and the world is bleak - so we can all use a little art & creativity.
What is everyone creating nowadays? Games, art, music, video, writing, anything - whether it is early, almost done, or just shipped. Feel free to include trailers, images, links - whatever.

We're currently working on a massive mechanics overhaul of the existential horror game that places a laser focus on unreasonable expectations, loneliness, and the psychological effects of the above.
...Would you believe us if we said there's actually hope and light at the end? No? Well, there is.

To make things better requires clear eyes and lots of heart. If we lose that, we lock in our losses. Hope to go numb to the pain.
Even in a rusted space can, we reject that. 21 of our 22 endings have at least some hope for the future. Many, we bring brightness out of the dark ourselves. 2/2
