16 years ago today, an explosion on BP's offshore oil rig Deepwater Horizon caused the biggest oil spill in American history.

Soon after, BP and the federal government called on WHOI for assistance.

Any ocean (biogeochemical) modeller wants to be part of this fun crowd for a while?

We're hiring a 🧪 PostDoc at @awi.de to assess carbon pathways into the interior 🌊 ocean and timescales of carbon sequestration with Lagrangian tools.

I want the names.
Of every mane who visited the online ‘rape academy’.
I want their next of kin. I want their place of work.
I want their headshots on every billboard, I want them in the town square.
Right where we can see them.
I want them fearful. I want them second guessing every woman they know.
I want them looking over their shoulders. Harried. Hurried. Nervous and afraid. I want their palms sweaty. Their breathing shallow. I want them to taste the fear that we have lived with for all out lives. I want them to wonder if their next step will be their last. Then, I’ll gently tell them that it’s not all women and we’ll see if that appeases them. If they sleep easier. If they can relax. Knowing that not all women want to drag a knife across their throat for what they’ve done. Only some.

Ocean warming weakens the sea–land breeze (SLB) in coastal megacities

The SLB, driven by thermal contrasts between sea and land, forms a key circulation system in coastal cities which mitigates urban heat islands, improves air quality and supports urban liveability.

Mansplaining, explained in one simple chart Kim Goodwin was asked to help some colleagues tell if they were being helpful or condescending. So she created a simple chart – which went unexpectedly viral.

I've just stumbled across this incredibly useful explanatory chart on mansplaining. Petition for this to be prominently displayed in every workplace.
