We have a chance of removing the Online Safety Act!

Any UK residents, PLEASE take the time to fill out the whole form. If we want to remove ID verification on websites that actually don't need it, we need to take action NOW!

Everytime you think "ah finally, a good use for AI", you should step back and realize that such a response is exactly the kind of wedge corpos are trying to drive between laborers

Everyone's expertise and craft is "finally a good use for AI" to those outside the field.

Learn solidarity please

Hey, this is worth taking like 60 seconds to fill out. Its not a commitment towards anything, its just to help the Free Speech Coalition gauge interest in such a credit union

Please share this around! This could end up being huge!

the bill is 'H.R.8250'

while usually i'd take a "wait and see" approach to a bill that has only been introduced, the us govt is moving FAST wrt age verification, so please, contact your representatives (particularly the house) and advocate against AV on device laws

I misspoke about the Amendment to Illinois’ HB5511 fixing problems. It did clean up a bunch of things but it also is now more broken than before in one big way.

It now requires EVERY APP and website to check your age.

Patrick Breyer put out a post recently on Chat Control 2.0 with a PDF. Apparently they want to push message scanning AGAIN for the trilogue, potentially for it to go into effect "any day now."

In the May 2025 memo from Meta's Reality Labs that the Times obtained, Meta reportedly wrote that it would launch "during a dynamic political environment where many civil society groups that we would expect to attack us would have their resources focused on other concerns."
The coalition calls the distraction play "vile behavior" and accuses the company of taking advantage of "rising authoritarianism" and the Trump administration's "disregard for the rule of law."

Kissing Trump's ring wasn't just a political necessity, it was gratitude.

Thanks to the vast assault on civil liberties, every organization I work with is stretched and resource starved.

Meta says that gives it an opening to introduce surveillance tech that would normally face activist pushback.

The bills passed committee. Spam your reps to reject the full bills. Bills like KOSA are a massive assault on our freedom of speech and privacy. They violate the Constitution.

The KIDS Act (mass censorship and surveillance law that would eliminate anonymous internet use) is moving forward in the House, and the only opposition is from Democrats who claim it doesn't censor and surveil ENOUGH. When is the left going to wake tf up???

Glad that she said it, but it won't be a surveillance state just for kids, it will be for anyone and it will specially affect the targets of fascist, Bipoc, disabled, neurodirvergent, queer, women.

These groups will be heavily monitored by the fascist surveillance state.

FTC Issues COPPA Policy Statement to Incentivize the Use of Age Verification Technologies to Protect Children Online The Federal Trade Commission issued a policy statement today announcing that the Commission will not bring an enforcement action under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA Rule) aga

Age verification is a scam literally engineered by p*d*****s.

We know because, in the same week as a blitzkrieg against freedom & privacy fraudulently labelled child protection, the FTC moved to repeal the one policy which bans collecting private info on children.

Big news, and not good news, but luckily for us we have time. It needs to get to the committee of rules FIRST before heading to the main house chamber.

This means our fight is not over.

We will need to fight HARDER
