At this point, the ACA protects affluent small business owners ( poor ones can't afford the premiums let alone the deductibles) from losing their business due to medical bills. It also reduces the number of people who get emergency medical services from hospitals but are unable to pay their bill.

In many ways, I've found making new friends in the unmitigated pandemic easier than it was pre-2020, since people who actually try and avoid Covid infection are already "pre-sorted" as being "likely to be a person I will like and respect", which makes the whole process much easier and reliable
