Many, many conversations with reporters about their outlets’ heding always boiled down to “legal protection” since 1) it was a “court decision,” and 2) it’s Cuomo and he’s a litigious asshole. Imagine if news outlets band together the way survivors do against an abuser?

I do find this insistence on contingency and hedging survivors’ accounts really tedious. Andrew Cuomo was found to have sexually harassed Lindsay Boylan—and many others—by the New York Attorney General.

NYT headline that says “Mamdani Endorses Lindsey Boylan, Who Accused Cuomo of Sexual Harassment.” The lede says “the endorsement, in a special election for a city council seat on Manhattan’s West Side, comes as the mayor seeks to build influence within the Council"

First & foremost, @lindseyboylan.bsky.social is more than deserving of this endorsement.

Second & just as important, fuck this headline. Lindsey didn’t accuse Cuomo of harassment. Cuomo harassed Lindsey. Period. She is not an accusor. She is a survivor-advocate. Show some respect. Report the truth.

This was @hfny.bsky.social's key message during the NYC Mayoral race (primary and general) to help people understand just how bad it would be to elect Cuomo.

And it worked.

This policy is shortsighted. The city’s deficit is 10x more than the *maybe* $500M this will bring in. It doesn’t address statewide needs. It’s political posturing by the Gov.

lmao this is ludicrous spin. Hochul put forth this proposal (which nearly passed a few years ago and was even embraced by *Cuomo*) entirely to avoid implementing Mamdani’s proposals that would raise *far* more money.

Sorry, but this is pathetically insufficient. The city faces a $5 BILLION deficit. And this might raise $500M?

And what about the rest of NYS? No other locality needs support? What about the 450k NYers who lost their health insurance?

No flowers for Hochul here. None.
