I've seen a few writers on BlueSky say that a first draft's only job is to exist. I don't know who said it first, but thank you. I've written 30+ novels, but I still needed that reminder, because it never gets easier. And now, back to making a thing exist!

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

Or if we taught kids how to be satisfied with enough. The other day a high school student told me they wanted to be rich so they could have a nice house. When I asked how much money they needed for that they said 100 million. They were surprised when I showed the real cost.

I'm going to have to look into that one.
