Heh! You should still draw it, it's a fun thing to draw and I think you'd do a great job with the expression and the pose. They seem well suited for your style.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to have inspired you to try out gouache. It's a really fun medium because of its versatility.
In case it matters, I specifically use acrylic gouache, which cannot be reactivated once it dries (and it dries fast).
The ornamental stylings of Zeon didn't stand out so much in the first Gundam show, but in the more utilitarian world of Zeta Gundam it was shocking to see stuff like this, even though it's nothing new.

The series by Kozueko Morimoto. It's about a woman from a yakuza family who becomes a teacher at a school full of delinquents. I think the live-action drama and anime adaptations are more well known, but I read the manga and enjoyed it a lot.

I love that prop and its scenes. It's a shame it's not in Crybaby (as far as I remember).
Mysteriously, the fluorescent pink paint doesn't appear in scans of the painting. I'm also attaching a super close-up just for fun.

"well, my dad beats yours because he gets a healthy amount of sleep so he's gonna live longer!"

I always try to be aware of a character's skin tone and to never make them lighter skinned, but it was funnier to make Char reflectively pale here so I did.
Sorry, Char... now you're practically as white as the White Devil that you fight...

Illustration Sketch Commissions There are three options: $20 USD: Lineart $40 USD: Simple Colors $60 USD: Complex Colors The prices may change if the sketch features a lot of characters or a super complex design that you don't want simplified, but those prices should mostly hold up. I accept payment through Paypal and you can contact me at chase42burns@gmail.com Though this is not all I'll do! I'm completely open to doing more complicated artworks (like comics, paintings, character/mechanical designs, or video game assets) and I would love to work with others on projects. So reach out and we can discuss prices if you're interested in something like that!
I'm officially opening illustration sketch commissions for the first time!
I'm sure I'll work out kinks in the process as I figure it out, and I may end up increasing my prices, but for the time being this is all the right info! Thanks for checking it out!

I know Tetsujin and Mazinger had some straightforward copies, and there was the delightful fake Trider/Asahi no. 3, but I can't think of any other old ones at the moment.
Earlier I was thinking about the similarities between the Real-type Trider and Dai-Guard's Kokubougar, too, which I think is fun.
Wow! That's amazing! Thanks so much for sharing it. Such a shame something like this never happened in the show proper. The fully visible hands on a green military vehicle is just plain great. It makes me wonder about how many imitation super robots there are out there.
a gouache and ink illustration of zambot 3 in a "real robot" style, with simple green colors and more realistic markings and details
Inspired by the "real type" illustration Kunio Okawara did of Trider G7, I gave a similar makeover to Zambot 3. I love its design and all the details feel so heavy and serious, so something like this seems fitting.

title spread of a comic titled "the ogre pearl" there's an illustration of a pearl, with text around it reading: "What?" "Haven't you heard of the Ogre Pearl?" "It's the largest natural round pearl on Earth." "After it was sold, there have been artificial cultured pearls with sizes that rival and even surpass it..." "But the Ogre Pearl occurred naturally."
second page of the comic "death report of francisco alvarez" "cause of death: asphyxiation" "ow, ow!" "subject's general health seemed mostly normal, although sedate." "what's the point of lying down to relax if it hurts?" "a small back wound and a habit to lie supine led to the perfect conditions to form--mysteriously--a pearl."
third page of the comic "the last eyewitness account of the subject was from a worker at a local public pool." "she told him he couldn't enter the pool because of the state of his back--" "it looked diseased or infectious." "he thought swimming might relieve the pain, she recounted." "his employer had nothing to add besides the fact he was a good worker and was always active with his job." "they did not provide him with health insurance that would have covered the costs of a specialist."
fourth and fifth pages of the comic in a spread "the subject was found deceased, with a massive cavity in his upper back." "however, this is not what killed him." "in reality, the strange growth inside of him--six inches in diameter--pushed his organs against his ribcage, straining his heart and lungs. this ultimately prevented him from properly breathing."
The Ogre Pearl
I think it's just a cute gibberish title. The series itself is like... I guess you could call it a surreal slice of life comedy show?
It's not too different from Nichijou, though I'd say that more fantastic things happen (not that it's always really part of the continuity, though). Like Pani Poni X.
Never judge a book by its cover.
I don't know if the robot appears in the manga, but it first shows up in episode 13 of the anime. I haven't finished the series but I think it only appears in like, one other scene in a different episode.
For a short while I was addicted to watching the reveal of Pani Poni X. I clipped it myself, and when I watched it to the end I thought "...but the opening is really cool, I'm gonna watch that part again" and I just kept repeating this.

Such amazing textures. Is this more photobash or more paintover? I love the roughly parallel "engraving" lines and the honeycomb-like spot. And the "teeth" in the darkness, only lit by edge highlights.
