Turns out the 25-year-old DOGE operative that got access to the Treasury Dept payment systems that manage 95% of all US govt payments, didn't just get "read only" access was previously claimed. He got "admin" access and has already made extensive changes to the code base

I show this in class when teaching about white Christian nationalism. It amazes me how shocked students are at the Jan 6 images. Many say they didn’t know how bad it was. America’s done a fine job rewriting this narrative. Namely because it refuses to face the terrorist at home.

So glad this brave Capital police officer was awarded the Freedom medal by President Biden.

Former officers who defended the US Capitol on Jan. 6 visited the Pa. House. Some GOP members jeered Some Republican members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives booed and walked out this week when two former police officers who helped protect the U.S.

The thing about January 6th that still lingers with me is how quickly and viciously MAGA turned on the Capitol Police. Really hammered home how every alleged principle on the right -- in this case, deference to law enforcement -- will be quickly abandoned if it conflicts with Trump's interests.

For those of us whose memories still function.

As long as we don't deal honestly with white folks' 1) belief in their divine right to rule over everyone else, 2) their belief in inherent supremacy, and 3) their fear of alleged white genocide and replacement by Black and brown people, including immigrants, there will be other Jan 6's.

Tragic more so than successful.

But we need to “learn how to talk to them.” We’ve had to deal with this lot our entire lives. They used to feel constrained by norms and socially-compelled standards. Now they feel emboldened. So we get this.

I am still invested in the frail and failing democracy that is this country. My enslaved ancestors worked too hard to push my family and others forward. But honestly, I feel like America's FAFO era will hurt not only those who have been despised by the incoming administration, but it's supporters.

People didn’t want to boycott the things/corporations that make our lives easier bc it was inconvenient. It will be interesting to see how bad life has to get to see there’s no other way. The fight for freedom and justice for all is uncomfortable + dangerous. Yet better than complete subjection.

This is the worst part:
1) to trash his employees as unprofessional & in essence lay them off ; 2) to acquiesce to a biased right-wing smear of an entire state and; 3) to follow Musk meekly to Texas, a place of unbridled political corruption, &anti-democratic &bigoted policies that imperil women.

President Jimmy Carter offers us a study in contrasts and the devil in Trump is writhing with anger at being upstaged. Carter's closing salvo is a legacy of humility and compassionate embodiment of principles. Divine timing is perfect!
